~*Chapter 1 torn apart~*

~*~ at the Cohen house~*~
Summer paced the kitchen of the Cohen house, Kirsten and Sandy were outside talking to the police. Seth had disappeared no one had seen him for a month and they had called every were they could think of, but no one had seen him they even called Luke in Portland but he had not shown up there. He and Summer had been fighting they had broken up with Summer throwing her engagement ring at him.
~*~ Pittsburgh~*~
Seth had gone to see his friend Anna in Pittsburgh he wanted to see if he was making a mistake or it was just another fight. He stayed for a month and all Anna could talk about was how glad she was that he was over Summer. When a month passed of Seth being there he knew in is heart that Summer was the girl for him and that he would be foolish if he did not go back to get her although telling Anna who had the strange thought that they had gotten back together would be difficult he hated to hurt her but the truth was that he loved her as a friend
~*~ in Newport ~*~
Marissa sat with Summer as Ryan went to get her a drink. She was a wreck she might have been angry with Seth but she did not want to lose him she loved the guy too much for that.
Ryan coming it with Summers drink: He’ll be back Summer I think he’s gone to get you some thing and Luke knows about it so he’s not saying .
Summer looking up: yeah it really takes a month to get a present
Ryan: it could be a big one
Marissa: yeah maybe it’s something really special for you
Summer storming out of the room: oh yeah like what ?
Both Ryan and Marissa just look at each other and shrugged
~*~ on the plane ~*~
Seth sat on the plane looking at the picture of him and Summer that he kept in his wallet. When a reasonably young women sat next to him she looked over at him and smiled I bet I can make you a member of the mile high club she thought.
Manny: hi I’m Manny
Seth: hi I’m Seth
Manny: so she dropped you did she.
Seth: no I’m on my way back to her.
Manny: sure you are honey that’s what they all say.
Seth: no it’s true we love each other very much
Manny: honey it’s ok please don’t lie.
Manny put her hand on his leg, Seth pushed it off.
Seth: I think I have the wrong seat please move.
Manny: no you’re in the right seat so am I honey lets ……you know
Seth: sorry but I’m not into cheating on people you may be but I’m not so which one of us is going to move me or you.
Manny slapping Seth on the face: I will jackass
He sat there for the rest of the flight just looking at the picture of himself and Summer. He loved her so much and knew that now Anna thought she was the one for him but Seth Knew himself better.

~*~ at Seth’s house~*~
Summer laid on the lounge at the house Kirsten had built for Seth as a 21st birthday Present. She was ment to have moved in over two months ago but they had been so busy with work and planing the wedding that they had no time but all that had changed now. He had Pictures of them everywhere out at parties and pictures of them with their friends, but the one she loved the most was the one they did not know had been taken just after they were engaged. they were standing on the beach hugging and Seth kissed her on the noes that was when Ryan had gotten the Photo it had been day time so there was no need for a flash that’s why they had not know about till after it was taken.

~*~ at Newport airport~*~
Seth walked out of the airport and called Ryan to pick him up.
Ryan: SETH WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN YOUR PARENTS AND SUMMER HAVE BEEN WORRIED SICK.
Seth: I went to visit Anna I thought if I saw her again I would find out if I was with the right girl
Ryan: well did it work.
Seth: yeah its Summer I’m ment to be with she’s always been the one for me I just needed to be reminded of it.
Ryan: that’s great man I’ll bring Summer with me shall I
Seth: thanks Ryan..

Ryan, Marissa and Summer arrived at the airport and waited in the coffee lounge, When Ryan saw Seth walking towards them with a bunch of flowers. Summer looked over and saw him she got up and ran to meet him, They held each other in a tight embrace till Manny came over.
Manny: see ya cutie, call me.
Summer: Cohen I don’t believe you.
She slapped him then walked over to Marissa and told her what happened. Marissa walked over to Seth and slapped him as well then the two ladies walked off.
Ryan: ok so why did that happen.
Seth: this lady on the plane sat next to me and wanted to well you know and I said no and she got pissed slapped me and now these two who’s next mum, dad, you. Oh don’t slap me please.
Ryan: I wont but I think you had better go tell Summer what happened and have Marissa there as well just to make sure that they both know what’s going on.

Summer and Marissa were sitting near a coffee cart outside of the airport. They were just sitting there because if they started talking about Seth, Summer would get even more upset then she already was.
Marissa: nice coffee
Summer: I know but I have had better.
Marissa: so have I come to think of it.
They looked up to see Seth coming along with Ryan, Summer just glared at him.
Summer: go away Cohen go join your little plane bum buddy I’m sure she’d like it, you two can sail away together reading silly lil’ comics.
Marissa thought he looked really honestly hurt with Summer’s remark. She was Summer’s best friend but it was a lil’ harsh.
Marissa: Sum don’t you think that was a lil’ harsh.
Summer: no I don’t think it was.
Seth: fine if you want to be that way Summer just to let you know nothing happened she came on to me and I said I had better and do not cheat on people but if you cant or wont believe that’s fine.
Seth walked off towards the car, then he stopped turned around and walked towards them as he got to the coffee cart he did what he did in high school, he got up on it.
Seth: Summer I have loved you with all my heart for ever and will always love you but if you want it to stay like this because of a little misunderstanding then by all means go off and find some one new.
~*~ Seth’s house~*~
Seth sat in his house looking at all the photo’s of himself and Summer and how happy they had been all that was gone now because of that lady on the plane Seth did not even know her. She had wrecked all that he had hoped for in a few lil words. Ryan came around to see how he was going, and to see if there was anything he could do. All Seth wanted was for a chance to explain himself to Summer but it looked like that was not going to happen so he just wanted to be left alone. Ryan knowing what Seth might do decided to stay there and hang out with him for the day, he noticed that Seth had taken been taken down the photos of Summer and himself that were all cute and cuddly that is . However they had not gone far as Ryan found out. They had only been moved into one of the spare rooms the one he had when they first moved out.

~*~ the Roberts house~*~
Summer and Marissa sat in Summer’s room and watched the old reruns of Summer’s fav show the valley. Although it was not a really sad episode Summer was still sitting there crying.
Marissa: Sum he was the one who was in the wrong so stop crying let him come grovelling back to you then kick him out.
Summer: its not that easy Coop I know he’s in the wrong and I know I should leave him but I love him and it hurts really bad.
Marissa: Sum I know it hurts but if he’s going to do it once he’ll do it again.

[CR]

~*~ at a party later that week~*~
Seth and Ryan turn up and found out that Summer and Marissa have not shown up yet they doubt that they will even come. They start walking around when Seth see’s the lady who tried to grope him on the plane he walks up to her and taps her on the shoulder. She turns around and smiles at him this big pearly white smile.
Seth: I hope your happy because of you I lost the love of my life because of you I have nothing to live for and because of you I have to get up here and tell all of these people why there will not be a wedding next month, I hope your happy cause I most certainly not.
Manny: is that any way to speck to a lady.
Ryan coming up behind Seth with drinks catches the last part of what Seth said.
Ryan: I highly doubt you classify as a lady more like a slut.
Manny: I’m offended get down on you knees and beg for forgiveness now.
Ryan: like hell I will.
Manny: I am the richest at this party you low life who is clearly here because of well I don’t know why but you must obey my every order.
Sandy hearing Ryan yell at some one went over to see what was going on once he arrived he saw what he dreaded most his youngest sister.
Sandy: Manny what are you doing here?
Manny: Sandy oh how lovely to see you this low life wont do what I say.
Sandy: that low life happens to be you adopted nephew.

Summer and Marissa had just walked in they saw Sandy standing there talking to the lady who talk to Seth at the airport. Without thinking Summer went over there and slapped her hard on the face. All who were there just looked at Summer daring not to do any thing this was one of her famous rage black outs.
Seth: Summer You realise you just hit my aunt.
Summer: you came on to your nephew what kind of sick bitch are you how old are you any way?
Manny: 43
Summer slapped her again and again till Sandy pulled her off all her hair was in her eyes so on one could see her tear streaked face. She looked up at Manny and started slapping her again but this time the rest could tell that she was crying for there were gasps for breath and sobbing. After Marissa had pulled her away, Summer fell into her arms crying hysterically, Manny looked up her face was all scratched from Summers nails.
Sandy looked at her then turned to Summer
Sandy: Summer that was….
Manny: no Sandy she had every right to I would do it to I expect that I will never get to know my nephews now it was my fault I thought it would be funny a story I could tell you but, it turned out to be the saddest most shameful thing I have ever done.

~*~ back at the Cohen house~*~
Summer sat in between Kirsten and Marissa with Seth on the other side of his mother and Ryan next to him the three of them were there to make sure that Seth nor Summer went after Manny again they had been so mad at her that neither had talked to her since the party all scratches on her face were not as visible as they were at the party.
Manny: I feel so bad about what I did you must believe me if I had know at all I would not have done it if I could turn back time I would but I cant and I wish I could you don’t know how much I wish I could make your pain go away or to take it from you to carry it for you or something like that.
Summer: your good but it still does not excuse you from what you did not only is that wrong its sick to think that you wanted to have it with you nephew and one that was on his way back home to some one is just sickly.
Seth: Summer do you believe me now that I did not do anything at all I was looking at this picture of us. ( he pulls a picture out of his wallet and handed it to her )
Summer: I remember this one.
While looking at the picture she smiled the smile that Seth had fallen in love with. The one that he loved seeing and hated not seeing, it made her face light up in different ways he could not explain it to anyone the way it made him feel every time he saw it he knew only one thing and that was that he was glad he was sitting down because it always made him weak at the knees.

~* Chapter 2 Love is sweet~*
Although they were friends again Summer and Seth both relised that they were not ready for any commitment things just yet they both had to work on trusting people. Manny had stayed to get to know Seth and Ryan, even though they had forgiven her for the stupid act she had done Summer was still weary of her, making sure she did nothing silly or stupid and warning her about other people they knew and that Manny liked.
All around them people began to notice that Seth and Summer were getting closer to each other, though they said they were just able to trust each other better now then they did before. Nevertheless every one could tell that they still loved each other with all their hearts, not that they would admit it though.
~*~Cohen house~*~
Sandy: they seem to be getting closer again maybe they will finally be happy they have been through a lot in the past few weeks.
Kirsten: they’ll come through they always have they are made for each other just like Seth horse Captain Oats and Summer’s Princess sparkle.
Sandy: that I must say is one of the most shameful things they have done.
Kirsten: this coming from the man who talked to a rose the other week.
Sandy: it had a lot say.

~*~ chapter 3 Manny’s mistake~*~
Manny had decided it was time to get to know Summer and Marissa better. She planed a day out shopping for the three of them, the only thing Summer and Marissa had to bring was them selves. They took the shiny new sports car that Manny had just gotten. Before they left Sandy took Manny aside to ask her how she had gotten so rich so fast.
Sandy- I hope for your sake that this is not stolen money.
Manny- Sandy what do you take me for, its what I got from my late husband. And no he was not old and nor was I doing it for the money he was my high school sweet heart, we married four years ago, he died last year of cancer he left his money to me but every thing else went to him family.
Sandy- ok go have fun be safe I want to see all of you back here in one piece.
~*~ in the car~*~
Manny- ok girls lets head down to L.A and spend the day shopping there then come back catch a movie then have dinner.
Summer- sounds great.
Marissa- yeah cool lets go.
The spent half the day shopping till they meet Anna coming out of one of the adults only shops, Summer and Marissa stiffened but Manny ran up to her screaming her name.
Mammy- Anna what are you doing here?
Anna- I came to see my friends. why are you here?
Manny- shopping with my nephews friends.( point to Summer and Marissa)
Anna- hey there I did not see you it’s been a long time how are you both?
Summer & Marissa- fine
Manny- Lunch time I know this great little restaurant about half and hour away lets go wanna come Anna?
Anna- Sure. Do you still have that cute lil car?
Manny- Na I got this really nice sport car now.
Anna- you have to let me drive.
Manny- as always

When on the high way Anna speed up to see what the car could really do.
Summer- Anna slow down you’re going far to fast.
Marissa- Anna come on there could be a cop car around.
Anna- oh you two lighten up a bit nothing could happen.
Anna saw car come on the high way from a on ramp knowing the car was going to fast she jumped out the side and rolled she watched in horror as their car crashed into the back of the other car.
~*~ nickol house~*~
Julie: Kaitlyn are you ready?
Kaitlyn: yeah coming can we get a horse like china?
Julie: how about a different horse a better one you’re a bit big for a horse like china anyway.
Kaitlyn: ok but mum you said Marissa could come to can’t we go another day so Marissa can come with us.
Julie: your sister wont want to come to a horse stable she was never the horse riding type come on before it closes for the night.
Kaitlyn: mum we have plenty of time.

~*~Seth’s house~*~
Seth: you cant beat me I am the unbeatable…..
* Ryan’s car crosses the finish line first on the video game.*
Ryan: really
Seth: hey how did you do that, that’s so not cool man. What’s for lunch I’m starved
Ryan: seeing the girls are out all day why don’t we go down to the bait shop and pig out of all those foods they hate.
Seth: what a great idea!
~*~ bait shop~*~
Seth’s phone rings while he and Ryan are pigging out on food he looks around for his phone while trying to clear his hands of all the grease.
Seth: where the heck is it I know I bought it so where the heck is it.
Ryan finds under a heap of used napkins and hands it to Seth.
Seth: yuck its all greasy….hello….what…..is she ok….I’m going down there… I don’t care.
Ryan: what’s happening* sees Seth’s face which is pale* what happened
Seth: the girls they were in a car accident.
Ryan lets go.
~*~chapter 4 life support~*~

~*~ L.A hospital ~*~
Seth sat in the waiting room of the L.A hospital with his family and friends around him, waiting, hoping, and praying that they were ok. His aunt had gotten out of if with only a few broken bones, Anna who had jumped out only had gravel rash. Marissa and Summer had been thrown from the back seat Summer’s seat belt stopping her from flying out of the car. Marissa’s though had snapped and she was flung like a toy.

One of the doctors came out with a grim look on his face OH DEAR GOD PLEASE DON’T LET HIM HAVE BEEN OPERATING ON SUMMER thought Seth.
Doctor: we tried every thing we could but there was nothing we could to for her she was flung from the car and lost too much blood we could not save her.
No one had been told who or what happened.
Julie: who, which one of them did not make it?
Doctor: miss…..
NOT SUMMER PELASE NOT SUMMER thought Seth
Then it hit him if it wasn’t Summer it would be Marissa either way he was about to lose someone.
Doctor: miss Cooper there was nothing any one could do for her.
Julie: NOOOOOOOOOO YOU BRING MY DAUGHTER BACK NOW YOU BASTED HEAR ME BRING HER BACK NOW!
Sandy: Julie….Julie there was nothing they could do she’s gone.
Julie started to tear up the waiting room screaming in pain every one else just sat there in shock not knowing what to do or what to say.
Seth whispering: some one has to tell Ryan.
Kirsten: what was that Seth?
Seth: I said some one has to tell Ryan.
Ryan: tell me what?
He took one look around the room and saw Julie tear streaked face he could tell what had happen Marissa had died Anna had Killed her. His fists clenched then he let out a humongous roar of anger he punched the wall hard his fist went through it.

The doctor who operated on Summer came out no one saw him they were all trying to calm down Ryan and Julie or sitting there thinking of what happened. The doctor cleared his throat they all looked up at him, but the eyes that caught him the most were Seth’s they were desperate for an ounce of news on her hoping she would be ok.
Seth: well
Doctor: she came through just fine although the only thing is that she will have to be taught how to walk again apart from that every thing should be ok.
A huge weight lifted off Seth’s shoulders.
Seth: when can I see her.
Doctor: immediate family only I’m sorry that is until she comes out of recovery she’ll be in hospital for 6 months after recovery.

~*~ chapter 5 step by step a time to say goodbye ~*~
Summer spent six weeks in recovery then she was moved to Newport County hospital, there Seth was with her every minute of the day from the crack of dawn till the closing of the hospital at night, after three months the hospital moved her to a privet room so that Seth could stay with her, when she was a sleep he would sit there and just draw her, when she was awake he urged her to try move her feet, they had their fights but Seth always stayed never leaving her side even if she would not talk to him he was always there.
Summer: Cohen?
Seth: yeah Summer.
Summer: when is Marissa’s funeral?
Seth: Later today dads trying to get them to let you go.
Summer: will you sit with me Cohen?
Seth: who else would I sit with.
Sandy enters the room with some clothes for summer to wear.
Sandy: you can go but you have to come straight back after it no hanging around you have therapy at two.
Summer that’s fine.
Seth: are you sure your ready for this?
Summer: no but it has to be done.
Seth: Summer remember one thing.
Summer: what’s that Cohen?
Seth: I’ll always be there for you.
Summer: and I’ll always be there for you too Cohen.

~*~ at the church ~*~
The place was packed with people, family friends and people from the community. Julie sat at the front of the church not saying anything or looking at any one. Kaitlyn just stared into out of space there was nothing she wanted to do all she wanted was her big sister back. Seth wheeled Summer into the church, all heads tuned their way all face’s expressionless, they just watched as Seth wheeled her down the isle.
Summer: I hate how they stare.
Seth: just forget about them. just pretend that there’s just our friends and family nobody else is here just us.
The ceremony was filled with tears and stories. Two hours later Seth and Summer were on their way back to the hospital.

~*~ chapter 6 moving on ~*~
~*~ Seth and Summer’s house~*~
six years after that fatal accident life in Newport went back to normal, as normal as it could be, Seth and Summer had Married and were expecting again, their first, a happy bubbly little girl with dark brown hair and green eyes. She looked like her mother, slender and short her personality was a mix of both her mother and father, she had his dry wit but her mothers seductive voice. Her name was Marissa.
Marissa: daddy?
Seth: yes rissy
Marissa: why does Mrs Cooper Nickol cry around me all the time ?
Seth: sit up her rissy * he picks her up and sits her on his lap* do you remember the story of the inseparable four?
Marissa: yea it’s about four friends who were always there for each other.
Seth: yes that the one well that story is about mummy, daddy, uncle Ryan and a friend of ours.
Marissa: what happened to that friend daddy where are they?
Summer walked in at this point and raised her eye brows.
Summer: she was bound to ask one day.
Seth and Summer sat there telling Marissa, the story of their friend and how she got her name. After they had finished Marissa turned to them and just looked at them then she gave both a big hug.
Marissa: I love you mummy and daddy
~*~ living room of Ryan’s flat~*~
Ryan had moved out of the house he shared with Seth and into a flat about 15 minutes away from the Cohen house it was just the right size for him and his wife Michelle.
Ryan: Summer is due any time now I wonder if she’ll have another girl
Michelle: no one knows Marissa must be excited a new baby brother or sister
Ryan: she’s five she thinks the birdie will come and drop it off.
Michelle: the stalk story I can’t believe you told her that.
Ryan: what was I ment to tell her that mummy and daddy were playing and it happened she would never want to go to school again.
Michelle: true but the stalk your gonna have her thinking that till she learns what really happens… then she’s gonna think you’re an idiot.
Ryan: I can live with that…. Better then her being scared for life.
Michelle: Summer is awfully big to be just having one baby.
Ryan: maybe it’s a big baby
Michelle: yeah big baby right well we’ll see I bet you she’s having twins. And hasn’t told any one.
Ryan: you’re on.
~*~ hospital~*~
a week after that talk Summer went into the hospital to have the baby, Seth went in with her. Ryan and Marissa waited out side.
Marissa: uncle Ryan do you miss your friend Marissa?
Ryan: rissy how do you know about her?
Marissa: mummy and daddy told me about her.
Ryan: yes do miss her but I have a lot of other people in my life who I love and I know she’s looking down at us making sure we are safe.
The doctor came out and said that they could go in and see her now. They walked into Summer’s room and there was Summer sitting up in bed holding one baby Seth walked up behind them carrying and another baby.
Ryan: how did my wife know that?
Summer: know what?
Ryan: that you were having twins.
Summer: Ryan she’s a women she can tell these things. Sweetie you want to hold you lil brother?
Marissa: yes please.
Marissa sat on a seat while her father laid her little brother in her arms. She laughed as he wrapped his little hand around her finger.
Marissa: what’s his name?
Seth taking the baby off her lap : mummy wants you to help her.
Marissa standing up : ummm………Luke.
Summer smiled at Seth who just looked at Ryan they all laughed.
Marissa looked around at the adults laughing she thought it was a nice name she ran out of the room crying.
Seth : I’ll get her.
He found her in the gift shop sitting on the bottom shelf with all the teddy bears. He bent down to see her, her face had tear running down it and her eyes were red. He picked her up and hugged her.
Seth: I’m sorry for laughing at you, its just mummy, daddy and uncle Ryan have a friend named Luke. Why don’t you think of a name for you sister instead.
Marissa: I have a sister?
Seth: yep
Marissa I know a really pretty name for a girl.
Seth: and what is that?
Marissa: Rachel.
Seth: that is a pretty name come on lets go tell mummy.
They told Summer and she loved it, then Marissa cam up with an other name for her brother Adam.

~*~ Seth and summer’s house~*~
Three weeks later Summer and the twins came home, she found that Seth Marissa and Ryan had been working on a room for them it had all of Marissa’s old baby things and some new ones the room was pink and blue with the cots next to each other and on them they had their names written in fancy writing.
Marissa carried Rachel to her new room while Seth walked with Summer and Adam. Once the twins were in their beds and Marissa was tucked up in her bed. Seth and Summer sat on the lounge snuggled into each others arm, Seth turned to Summer and kissed the top of her head.
Seth: soooo summer any thing you want to tell me.
Summer: what Cohen what are you going on about.
Seth: just I heard some little secret.
Summer: what ok stop lying
Seth: im not lying
Summer: right Cohen sure I believe you
Seth: no you don’t.
Summer: no you’re right I don’t
Seth: Summer just tell me ok I can handle it.
Summer: ok Seth Cohen….
Seth: yes…
Summer: you have baby puke on your shirt.
Seth: do not
Summer: no you’re right Cohen. CAUSE THERE NOTHING TO TELL apart from the fact that you’re the love of my life and always have been since we first went out but you know that.
Seth just stared at her with amazement. Which made Summer’s heart melt, she hated all he had to do was look at her in one way and she was gone.
Summer: what?
Seth: so finally after six year I get that secret you never tell me out of you.
Summer: you….sneaky thing you.
Seth: thank you.

~*~chapter 7~*~ luving you~*~
Ryan and Seth sat at the real Cohen house playing play station, Sandy and Kirsten were in the kitchen talking it was just like it was when they were teenagers the only difference was that Seth had his daughter Marissa sitting in his lap and his wife Summer sitting behind him with the twins, and Ryan had Michelle sitting behind him, the fact that they were playing a little kids game with no fighting or killing and Seth for once actually won, was beside the point they were doing something they always loved to do in a house they loved with the people they loved.
Seth: hahaha I won yeah rissy daddy won yeah!
Summer: hate to brake it to you babe but this is the first time you have beaten Ryan at play station and it a game for five year olds.
Michelle: Aww don’t be mean Summer some people are just better at things then others.
Ryan: what are you implying? That I could not have beaten him.
Summer: lets face it Ryan you don’t have a five year old you don’t know these things.
Ryan: I may not have a five year old child but I do have a five year old niece come here.
Marissa got up and sat in her uncles lap. He started to tickle she squirmed and giggled trying to get away from him.
Sandy and Kirsten sat there watching the boys who were now men and their families through out every thing Ryan and Seth had always been there for each other, no matter what happened. Those day of them having their conversations in the pool house were long gone, but the memories of them still remained, the awesome foursome may have been split up in one way but Marissa Cooper lived on through her friends and through the memories they shared of her. For it was that way that Marissa Cooper the girl next door was and always would be always there.
