The Seer gives tips about the future to a half-demon/half-human man named Sirk who wants to become a full demon. In order to become a demon, he must kill his remaining family members. His first target is a Marine chaplain and, sadly, Piper and Paige aren't able to protect him fully. Paige did say a spell to protect him but it didn't work as expected. Even if the Chaplain has a hole in his body, no one is sure if he's really dead until the Angel of Death appears (yep, the same one who talked with Prue, and who collected the souls of Patty and Grams ~ Simon Templeman reprises his role as the Angel of Death in this episode). The spell actually messed a bit more lives than just the chaplain's because the souls Death is supposed to take don't die. So Sirk can't become a full demon since the souls aren't collected, and the Angel of Death can't do is job because deads aren't really dead. Paige is not happy either with the results of her spell because she messed with the way things are supposed to happen, but if she reverses it, the chaplain dies... To Sirk's surprise, the Chaplain isn't his last blood relative. It's not clear how it happens but Piper dies (yeah, again) and ends up helping the Angel of Death. One of her tasks? Collect Paige's soul! Yep, it's death fest in this episode. Will Phoebe and Leo be able to help both dead sisters?] Will they be able to protect the innocent (aka the last blood relative)? Phoebe has problems with Leslie. Agent Brody, from the previous episode, is still snooping around in this one. Ben from "Cheaper by the Coven" also appears.

TEASER
Piper and Paige are on stakeout in Piper’s SUV at the presidio. Both are on their cell phones with their conversations overlapping. Piper is dealing with supply issues at P3 as Paige is obviously talking to Phoebe about witchcraft vs. lives without witchcraft. They both hang up and Paige asks “How come every time Phoebe runs from love, we’re the ones who pay for it?” Piper complains that P3 is falling apart and that she doesn’t have time for her kids as Paige complains about Magic School and both decide that it’s Phoebe who’s pushing them so she doesn’t have to face Leslie. Piper wishes the demon would attack already to get this over with. Piper gets upset at Paige who admits to using a protection spell on their innocent. Piper doesn’t believe they’re effective. This innocent, Marine Chaplain Arthur is on the move – heading towards the chapel. He’s entering alone and Paige and Piper pile out of the jeep. Someone is hiding in the shadows and says “Come to pray, have you, Arthur?” Arthur recognizes him as Kevin, but as he steps into the light, we see he is the demon Sirk who admits to Kevin being his human name. “This is who I really am. Or at least, who I hope to be soon.” He explains that he’ll be complete when he eliminates the last of his human lineage who is Arthur. Sirk says “It must be of great comfort to believe in God, Arthur. Too bad our other relatives didn’t” as he hits Arthur in the chest with a plasma ball. Paige and Piper have entered at this moment, but Arthur slumps dead to the floor. Piper blasts Sirk who stands back up and smirks “Ouch, that really stings.” He throws a plasma ball at them as Paige calls “Fiery ball thingy!” redirecting it at Sirk. He shimmers out just missing the ball. Piper and Paige rush over to Arthur who is still alive, but has a smoking hole in his chest that you can see through. The scene ends with Piper saying “Nice protection spell there sis.”

ACT ONE
Int. Manor – Sitting Room - Day
Arthur is sitting in the Manor wearing a coat to cover his wound wondering how he’s still alive. Paige explains that it’s because of the protection spell she cast. Paige explains that they’re trying to protect him from his cousin who’s technically a half-demon going through the ritual of killing all his relatives to become a full demon. Arthur runs out to find his wife. Paige orbs out and orbs back in with Arthur as Phoebe explains that they can’t have him running around with Agent Brody snooping around. Paige promises her sisters and Leo “My spell got us into this mess. I’ll figure a way to reverse it.” Arthur asks if he’s alive or dead but Leo tells him that they’re not really sure. But from behind them in the living room the Angel of Death appears and says “I might be able to answer that question.” Arthur faints. The Angel of Death wants to collect Arthur’s soul “Problem is, I haven’t been able to claim his soul yet, even though he’s supposed to be dead. Fascinating, really, this has actually never happened before. Any ideas why now?” Paige sheepishly admits to the protection spell. He demands that she reverse it now as not to throw off the cosmic balance. Phoebe and Paige explain that they have to find a way to deal with the demon first. The Angel of Death leaves, but he’s not happy and he will be back. Paige turns to Phoebe and tells her that she has to deal with Leslie. Phoebe says she can’t because she’s got a demon to deal with. Paige reminds her that it’s she and Piper who are dealing with the demons as Phoebe has no active powers. Phoebe grabs her stuff and leaves to do as they say to get them to leave her alone. Paige orbs out. Piper tells Leo he should tell the Elders what’s going on but he’s nervous about facing them. She reassures him and he orbs out as well. Piper turns to the innocent, but he’s gone.
Int. Hospital – Emergency OR – Day
A doctor and a group of nurses are working hard to save a patient. A heart monitor with a prominent flat line is in the background. The doctor yells “Clear” as he uses the defibrillation paddles. The patient doesn’t revive and the doctor calls the time of death. The Angel of Death calls to the soul who has just died to come, but he’s stuck. The patient’s soul can’t pull free. As he struggles, he’s pulled back into his body and his heart starts beating again. The doctors, nurses and awake patient are baffled. Sirk says “looks like we both have a problem.” To the Angel of Death. They go into a secluded hallway corridor. The Angel of Death asks how the demon can see him and Sirk answers that the more lives he takes, the more gifts he receives. Sirk proposes that they join forces in order to get deaths moving again so that they are both happy.
Ext. Bay Mirror – Day
Phoebe is reluctant to enter the building. Leslie surprises her by coming up behind her asking “Where’ve you been? I’ve been calling you for days.” She tells him that she’s been busy and has got to run. He asks why she’s avoiding him and wonders if she’s sorry about what they did. He asks if she’s in some kind of trouble because some government guy came by asking questions. “I think his name was…Brody.”
Int. Police Station – Darryl’s Office – Day
Agent Brody is standing in the doorway asking if Darryl has a minute. It’s obvious Darryl doesn’t want Brody around. Brody says it’s obvious Darryl has something to say and tells him to say it without fear of repercussion. Darryl simply says “I just don’t want to end up like Inspector Sheridan, okay? I got kids.” Inspector Sheridan was transferred to another district, but Darryl won’t trust Brody and doesn’t want to get involved in investigating the Halliwells. Brody explains that he doesn’t want to harm them, but that he wants their help, but he won’t say with what exactly. “As soon as they know that I know they’re magical and that I’m not a threat to them, they’ll have to help me. So unless you’d like to end up transferred like your buddy Sheridan, I’d suggest you help me.”
Int. Magic School – Study – Day
Paige is stilling at a table surrounded by magic books as Ben peeks in and reminds her of the last time they saw each other. She tells him she’s busy and he asks her if it’s the age difference. She explains that she really is busy so he offers to help. She relents and tells him that the protection spell he found for her backfired. Paige is trying to think of a way to reverse the spell, yet save the innocent, but Ben doesn’t think it will be possible to save the innocent.
Ext. Back Alley – Day
Arthur is waiting in the shadows and startles a woman moving towards the back entrance of a doctor’s office. It’s his wife and she can tell something is wrong. He has so much he wants to say to her, but how can he tell her the truth. He tells her he just wanted to see her and asks if she still has the key to the safe deposit box. She asks if he’ll be home for dinner but he doubts it. She worryingly enters the doctor’s office. “I’ve been looking all over for you, Arthur.” Says the Angel of Death.
Int. Manor – Attic – Day
Piper isn’t having any luck scrying as Paige orbs in. Paige explains that they won’t be able to reverse the spell without losing Arthur which will allow Sirk to become a full demon. Piper is more freaked out by the Angel of Death. Piper explains that she hasn’t been able to locate Arthur because he’s protected. Just then, the crystal drops and Piper’s confused.
Ext. Alley – Day
Paige and Piper orb in to find the Angel of Death standing over Arthur. He reversed the spell and took Arthur’s soul. Piper accuses him of helping a demon but the Angel of Death explains that it was the demon who helped him. Piper says “You can’t get help from a demon. You’re supposed to be neutral.” But the Angel of Death explains that the circumstances were unusual due to the unforeseen consequences “People have to die in the order on my list of all death ceases.” Piper’s getting angry at the Angel of Death and tells him it isn’t her fault if he can’t keep up. She stalks away as Paige follows. He trails them. As they come out on the street, Piper spins and continues to give the Angel of Death a piece of her mind as passers-by give her odd looks. The Angel of Death proclaims that the witches are going to help him clean up this mess. He reaches out towards Piper, twists his hand in the air and Piper collapses dead. A horrified Paige rushes to Piper. She’s about to speak to the Angel of Death as an older couple starts helping. As Paige turns again to the Angel of Death, Piper’s soul is standing next to him, all dressed in black. Piper asks “What’s going on?” as she sees her body lying on the ground. A list appears in the Angel of Death’s hands and he hands it to Piper and tells her that she’s got a lot of catching up to do just before he vanishes.
