Hurtful tales and happy endings Seth and Summer.
Seth stood in the waiting area of the Newport police station waiting for Ryan to finish work. Ryan had decided to become a police officer on his last ever trip to Chino. The place had gotten so bad that all of the guys he had grown up with were jail and all the girls were either working at the top Newport parties as waitresses or they lived at home with their mothers and had 3 to 4 children, well that was his old neighbourhood any way. There was so much crime there that Ryan decided to give back to the community it was the best way he could think of to pay them back for all the things he had done and to show the world that not every one from Chino turned out like that, although you could hardly tell that he originally came from Chino now.
Seth: Hurry up Ryan man mum thinks were are coming over an hour after work do you know how many laws I broke coming here on time.
Seth looked up to see Ryan shaking his head.
Ryan laughing: Even with a bro for a cop you still find ways to brake the traffic laws I gotta hand it to you though I’m surprised that you don’t get speeding tickets the way you drive.
Seth: oh get off my back.
The Cohen’s had decide to adopt Ryan when he was 17 because there was no way his mother was going to get him back after his last visit to Chino. He had come back so badly bruised that Sandy went to see if they could adopt him straight away.
Seth and Ryan walked in to the house that they shared along with Ryan’s wife Kandy, Summer who was getting over a fight with Marissa about how secretive she was being, Marissa and Oliver who after all that he had put them through when they were younger had come back and had to rebuild the trust he had with Marissa and build friendships with the others after all that they had gotten married. Although neither Ryan nor Marissa knew that Seth and Summer were seeing each other or that they were engaged that’s what had caused the fights between Summer and Marissa the only reason they did not know was because they still talked to Luke.
Marissa: Where have you two been you mother thinks we are on our way now.
Ryan: What we’re not needed for another hour.
Marissa: Yeah that was an hour ago great time management skills guys . We’ll see you there. Oliver is in the car waiting for me, Oh and Seth Summer wants to talk to you why she told me to tell you I have no idea.
Seth: Ok thanks Marissa
Seth walked through the house his mother had designed for them it was very modern and very classy but still acquired to the needs and tastes of 6 people in their 20’s. He walked up the stairs and turned right and walked straight in to his and Summers room. Strangely enough none of the others seemed to think this was weird that he never slept in the room that had all the things he had brought with him in, well all but his clothes and pictures of him and Summer from when they were in high school.
Seth :Hey there Sum what’s on your beautiful mind?
Summer: Nothing it’s fine I was just thinking about how close we came to losing each other although at the time I did not, love you as much as I do now.
I know I’m lucky to have you, you are the light of my life. The colour that brightens my world if you and Luke had gotten married three years ago my life would be a dull black and white movie with no sound, Seth thought to himself.
Summer: Earth to Cohen
Seth: Yeah I was just thinking.
Summer and Luke were engaged to be married three years ago but two days before the wedding Luke got cold feet and took off. The only thing he left was a note for Seth saying ‘look after your girl’ to this day Seth had not told Summer about this it would have killed her to know.
Summer: Seth we have to tell them soon you’ve seen how badly I fight with Marissa now she knows I’m hiding some thing from her I have not done that since second grade.
Seth: Ok how about this keep your ring on and then we’ll just act like normal see what they say if they don’t like it well then they will have to learn to deal with ok.
Summer: What did I do to deserve you.
Seth: Beats me( Summer’s jaw drops) I’m joking you were you plain and simple.
Summer : You had better get ready your mum will think we are not coming go on…go.
Seth walking back from the bathroom: Summer I have three words for you.
Summer: Really don’t let them be what the heck.
Seth: I love you.
Summer: I see you found your present like it? ( Seth nods ) I thought you would now get a shirt on we are so late.
Ryan and Kandy sat in the car. They had meet through Seth and hit it off from there Kandy worked with Seth at the Yacht Club and had the same background as Ryan that’s were Seth got the idea they would be perfect for each other.
Ryan: Luke is coming tonight.
Kandy: Do Seth and Summer know?
Ryan: Do you think I’m that silly if Seth saw Luke again he’d kill him he told me he would and lets face it he may be weak compared to Luke but seeing Summer hurt makes Seth angry and when he’s angry he’s stronger then what he normally is.(looks over and sees skeptical look on Kandy’s face) Ok put it this way if Seth was angry with some one for hurting Summer would you pick a fight with him?
Kandy: Good point. Seth would do any thing for Summer.
Ryan: Pity she doesn’t love him though.
Seth and Summer hoped in to the back of the car Seth took Summers hand and pulled her closer to him and kissed her on the head. Summer smiled and pulled his arms around her tight. Kandy happened to be watching this from the review mirror.
Kandy thinking: So much for her not loving him. Ryan sweetie you can be so blind to things sometimes.
Ryan driving out of the drive way: About time.
Seth: Sorry man trouble with finding a clean shirt.
Kandy sarcastically : Sure clean shirt right.
Both Ryan and Seth : What’s that ment to mean.
Kandy: Nothing, nothing not a thing.
Marissa rang the door bell at the Cohen house and Kirsten answered it with a flustered look on her face. She was not opening the door all the way so she could hide the people standing behind her.
Kirsten: Marissa hi how are you?
Marissa: Good Kirsten why are you holding the door like that its not like I have not see you house before and I know Anna’s there I saw her looking out the window before while walking to the door, Seth and Ryan are on there way.
Kirsten: oh ok then (she opens the door) well come on in why may I ask aren’t the other right behind you.
Oliver: Running late Ryan was held up at work Seth would have been waiting agers Kandy got home normal time seeing he dropped her off and went to pick up Ryan.
Kirsten: Thanks Oliver, Luke and Sandy are in the kitchen going over last nights football game if you want to join them, or you could stay here and join in the small talk of three women.
Oliver: I think I join Sandy and Luke.
Marissa: Oh honey you have to stay with us it will be so enlightening for you.
Oliver turned a shade of red and walked off.
Anna: What why did he go red?
Marissa: Just a joke don’t worry it would take all night to explain it. in cliff notes he walked in on Summer and I talking and stayed with us said it was enlightening.
On the drive over Kandy looked in the review mirror again and saw Summer looking at her she raised and eye brow, Summer shrugged and smiled.
Seth: What are you smiling at ?
Summer: Nothing, nothing not a thing.
Kandy giggled which started Summer off before to long both women were laughing their heads off, at something Seth and Ryan knew nothing about.
Ryan pulling into the drive way: What are you laughing at both of you what is soooo funny that has both of you gasping for air.
Summer and Kandy laughing: Nothing, nothing not a thing.
Seth shrugs: I don’t know but what ever it is I hope it lasts.
Anna looked out the window and saw Seth and the others arrive they got to the door and it was flung open by Anna.
Anna grabbing Seth’s arm: Seth hey how are you glad to see you come in.
She walked in inside and shut the door behind them just as Ryan and the girls were about to walk in.
Ryan: Ok
Ryan opened the door and walked in both Summer and Kandy stayed out side for a minute.
Kandy: So how long have you to been seeing each other.
Summer holding out her left hand: 3 years.
Kandy shocked: Wow when how Goss do tell.
Summer: Last year at beach dinner when we all went for a walk, he stopped I stopped to get him to hurry up and I turned around and there it was.
Kandy: And why not tell any one the great news.
Summer: Ryan and Marissa were in contact with Luke.
Kandy: Umm well looks like we’re are in for an interesting night he’s here but no one knew Anna was going to be here.
Summer: Well then it’s going to be very interesting then isn’t it. We are just going to see what happens see if any one notices this ring lets go and knock their socks off. Oh and don’t tell I want to see faces.
Kandy: Der like I would so do I.
Both women laughed and headed inside.
Anna had dragged Seth out to the beach house which she now rented from Kirsten and
Sandy she closed the door behind her and pushed him on to the bed.
Anna: You don’t know how long I have waited to do this Seth Cohen this is your lucky night.
Seth: Okay Anna hold it for just a minute. I’m well how do I say this gently, Other wise taken.
Anna: So have a fling I’m sure she wont mind.
Seth: But I will she’s not just my girlfriend Anna she’s my-wife-to-be we are engaged.
Anna: Stop kidding Seth I know you your just the little joker.
Seth: Anna I’m not joking I’m being serious I love her you had your chance and left now I’m with someone else.
He got up and walked out of the pool house and back through to the house. He walked up behind Summer and hugged her.
Summer turning around to hug Seth : Hello where did you get up to nothing bad I hope.
Seth: No just being persuaded by a person who does not understand the meaning of engaged.
Summer looked up in to Seth’s eyes and smiled. He bent down and kissed her, Kandy walked in at this time and coughed. Both Seth and Summer jumped.
Kandy: Aren’t you glad I’m not someone else. Like Sandy for example.
Seth: You know but how Summer?
Summer: She saw us in the car on the way over I told her outside she has not told any one she want to see the looks on the others faces.
Kandy: Mainly Ryan and Marissa that will be priceless.
Summer: I’m more worried about what Luke will say you said his wife left him and he now wants me well that’s going to be a bit tricky.
Seth: Luke’s here where I’ll kill him.
Summer: Babe don’t for me please.
Ryan and Marissa walked in on Seth, Summer and Kandy the only thing that they found strange was that Seth and Summer were hugging. But they were always hugging when Luke was around it was a front they put on. Both Ryan and Marissa thought they must have see Luke already but then the setting sun hit Summer’s ring and blinded them both they walked over with their hands shielding their faces.
Ryan: What’s making that bright light?
Summer and Seth smiled at Kandy who got into place beside them so she could have a better view of their faces.
Seth: Summer and I have some thing to tell you.
Summer: We are getting married
Ryan and Marissa stood there speechless until Marissa fainted and they all yelled out for someone to get some water. Sandy came running in to see what had happened and found Marissa on the floor with the others around her. he yelled for the others to come in and for Kirsten to bring a jug of water.
Sandy once Marissa was ok and they were all sitting down: What happened?
Summer casually: We just told them that Seth and I are getting married.
This time Anna and Kirsten fainted and Luke looked like his eyes were about to pop out of his head.
Sandy: Okay if this is a joke tell us now cause that’s not funny.
Seth: Dad we are not joking we’ve been engaged for a year now Dr.Roberts knows but was told not to tell.
Luke’s mind was ticking. Why did he have to let her go she could have loved him for the rest of their lives, but no he had to let her go for the one she really loved fine she wants him she had better see how much she wants him. lets she if it can stand this.
Luke: Well I don’t see why you should marry a cheating liar I saw him with Anna earlier and they were going for it like rabbits. I tried to stop him but he said he wanted to do it and told me he would kill me if I told I’m sorry Summer he has been cheating with Anna all summer long.
Seth: Summer don’t believe him he’s lying I would never do that to you.
Summer: How can I be sure you telling the truth Luke and not trying to get me back.
Anna: We’ve been caught Seth give it up. Summer we have been at it all summer long and I would like to say that I am pregnant with Seth’s child we found out the other week.
All: SETH
Seth: Its all lies I’m telling you I have not seen Anna all summer I did not know she was here.
Anna: Oh don’t lie Seth you told me yesterday you loved me and want to spend your whole life with me.
Summer got up and ran out of the room crying Marissa, Kandy and Kirsten went after her and Ryan pulled Seth outside Sandy and went with them. No one had noticed Oliver went to hide in the corner.
Ryan: I can’t believe you would do that you ARRRR!
Sandy: You have a lot of explaining to do and do it fast.
Seth: I did nothing I have been at work all summer ask Kandy I have been working on the books to get them up to date. I love Summer too much to do that to her. Why would I want Anna I saw Luke the other day coming out of the shops with a friend of his he is the one that has been seeing Anna all summer he said that she would love this and that he was going to ask her to marry him so that that baby could live its mother and father I had not seen Anna all summer till tonight.
Summer sat on the steps crying Marissa was hugging her telling her that he would pay and Kandy and Kirsten were sitting there talking about how not like Seth this was.
Summer crying: Why did he do it I now know were he was all thoughs days and you ( pointing to Kandy) you knew where he was covering for him saying he was working on the books you knew you were covering in for him you sick bitch.
Marissa looked up to see tears forming in Kandy’s eyes while she shook her head.
Kandy: He was working on the books when I was there how was I to know that’s what he got up to when I left I had no clue Summer if I did I would have said something at dinner or lunch or something like that.
Marissa: Sum she has a point not that I’m disagreeing with you but have you ever known Kandy to not tell us if some thing is pissing her off.
Summer: True but I hate him he’s the lowest scum on the earth. Kandy, Coop can we go I want to get my stuff and live with dad for a while get all this out of my head.
An hour went by and Oliver still stood behind the wall with a tape recorder recording what Anna and Luke were saying he could tell they were lying the look on Seth’s face when Anna said she was having his baby gave it away.
Luke: I think that took care of the thanks sweet pea for hopping in like that.
Anna: Not a problem my hunny bunny now if they knew it was all fake they would kill us lucky for us they are all outside either comforting princess Summer or killing dead dog Cohen. God I cant believe I had to do that earlier EW yuck you would not believe how relived I was when he said no.
Luke hugging Anna: I know to think you liked him in high school is just plain gross. And to think I was about to marry princess Summer glad I did not now.
Anna: We tore them apart just like we wanted to do.
Oliver walked out to where Seth, Ryan and Sandy were: You might want to hear this.
He played the tape for them to hear the conversation that Anna and Luke had, both Ryan and Seth clenched their fists.
Seth: I will kill them both they took the only thing I wanted away from me.
Ryan : I’ll kill them for doing this to my brother and my best friend.
Sandy: Neither of you will kill any one because we are going to get the girls and tell them the truth and let them kill Anna while we kill Luke
They walked in to find Anna and Luke kissing passionately and Kirsten standing behind them shocked.
Sandy: Well looks like we don’t have to tell you after all.
Both Luke and Anna jumped up and stood apart.
Ryan: You don’t have to lie any more we know the truth and I’m guessing Kirsten has figured it out as well. Give it up the babies Luke’s it was Luke you were with all summer not Seth.
Seth: Where’s Summer mum she has to know the truth?
Kirsten looked up and tears welled in her eyes, her son looked so desperate to find the one he loved: She left over an hour ago to go live with her dad, I’m so sorry honey she was so upset and she asked Marissa and Kandy to take her home and get her things.
Seth leashed out in wild rage he called Luke and Anna every name under the sun .Then he walked outside and went over to Luke’s car he thought of kicking the door in but that would land him in trouble with Ryan and the other cops so he just stood there fuming Anna came running out after him she had given her self Chinese burns. Saying that Luke had done it but Seth knew better then this she just wanted to get Seth in a heap of trouble so he walked off down the street. Kicking rocks as he went.
Summer sat on the plane looking out the window she did not want the old lady sitting beside her to know she was crying.
Old lady: Every thing alright dear?
Summer: I’m fine thank you.
Old lady: I did not come down in the last shower you know I can see your hurting inside man troubles?
Summer: Some thing like that he cheated on me we were engaged to get married see(showed the lady her finger) I guess I wont need it any more you take it.
Old lady: Why thank you dear but I could not take this you keep it he may come after you and you can give it back to him then.
Summer: Thank you.
Old lady: For what dear I did nothing.
Summer: Making me see sense I will give it back to him if he comes after me.
Old lady: Not a problem.
Summer hopped off the plain and saw her father waiting for her. She ran up to him and hugged him in minutes she was crying him his arms they had been real close when she was younger since she had left school and lived with the others they had gotten closer. Then her father decided he wanted a change of pace and decided to move to Fiji she had promised to visit him one day she had thought she would go with Seth that was obviously not ment to be.
Dr Roberts: Oh Summer things will get better I will make sure of it you’re with me now on need to worry.
Summer: I don’t get why he did it dad it’s just not like him to do that at all.
Dr Roberts: We do some strange things some time Summer. Men I mean we do some really strange things some times.
Luke walked out of the house and after Seth he wanted to make him pay for all thing things he had said about him back at the house. He found Seth sitting on the beach out the back of Jimmy’s house.
Luke: Hey dweeb your cruising a bruising.
Seth: Get stuffed Luke.
Luke: Nah I think I’ll just bash the heck out of you instead.
Seth: That’s why your wife left you isn’t it? you beat her up all the time she did not want you to hurt your child and what are you going to do to Anna and you second child hey will they end up with the same fate running away from you to stay safe.
Luke: If you don’t shut that trap I’ll shut it for you.
Seth standing up: You and what army
Luke: I don’t need an army to take down a pathetic loser like you.
Luke took one punch at Seth and knocked him to the ground he started to kick him in the stomach. Until Seth pulled him self up and tried to run away knowing that if he retaliated he would get in even worse trouble. Unfortunately for Seth some of Luke’s old buddies came walking down the beach
Guy 1: Hey Luke what’s up man
Luke with a smirk: Getting this guy for getting my girl pregnant.
Guy2: Want some help?
He grabbed for Seth and got the back of his shirt. Two guys held Seth down while the rest took turns punching him like he was a punching bag. after they had finished they walked off and left him there. Seth lay unconscious on the beach.
A couple of hours later Ryan looked out the window to see Luke walking up the beach with his old school friends giving them high fives and pretending to fight he knew what this ment all to well. They had done some thing to someone and his guess was Seth.
Ryan: Ok what load of bull did Luke feed to you this time.
Guy3: He knocked up Luke’s girl don’t believe me ask him.
Ryan: Oh I believe you alright but do you know who his girl is.
Guy2: Yeah Summer ya dumb ass.
Ryan: Really that’s not what I know then again I was the one who kept in touch with him when he left so what would you know.
Guy4: A lot more then you do.
Ryan: Luke do they know that you’re the father of Anna’s yes that’s right Anna’s child and that you lied to Seth and beat him up for no good reason. How do I know ? Luke when you used to bash kids up at school you would do the same thing as you did before the high fives the play fighting. And when I find Seth you going down your over 21 now no one can get you out of this one I’ll make sure of it.
Ryan ran up towards Jimmy Cooper’s house the one place he knew were he would find Seth, and sure enough like a little kid crying there was Seth all curled up in a ball Ryan finally got up to him he was hurt quite badly he helped him up and walked up to Jimmy’s house. Ryan knocked on the back door and Jimmy came to open it
Jimmy: Hey Ryan Seth…wowza what happened here?
Ryan: Luke and his merry bunch of drop kicks can we get him in and I’ll call Sandy on my mobile.
Jimmy: I’ll call the ambulance while you do that.
An hour later Seth lay resting in the hospital bed he was ok apart from some bruising, cuts that needed stitches and a couple of broken ribs. They wanted to keep him in over night just to make sure.
Kirsten: I can’t believe he did that I really can’t believe it.
Ryan: Trust me he wont get away with it I’ll make sure of that and his little buddies get what they deserve.
A month later Dr.Roberts was reading the paper when he came across a report from Newport. It read.
Five young men have been convicted to two months goal for the bashing of a Newport
resident Seth Cohen last month. Mr. Cohen was found by his half brother Constable Ryan Atwood on the beach out the back of one of their friends fathers house. Mr. Cohen sustained minor injury’s from the bashing. Doctors say that he was lucky to come away with only minor injury’s. One of the young men convicted was a friend of both Mr. Cohen and Constable Atwood, the reason he gave in court for his doings “ I was looking out for the girl I love Summer Roberts” at this remark several of the general public murmured between them. The judge had to ask the mother and father of Mr. Cohen to leave the court room for they were yelling at Mr. Ward the young man who started the whole thing.
When we tried to find out from Mr. Cohen who Ms. Roberts was all he had to say was “Ms. Roberts is a dear friend who I want kept out of the spot light” Mr. Ward had this to say “ She was the love of my life till he stole her from me Summer where ever you are I love you.”
Summer: Hey dad what’s happening in the other parts of the world ?
Dr Roberts: Oh nothing just the normal boring old stuff. Nothing that would interest you nothing at all unless you like stocks and shares.
Summer: No thanks dad I’m going down to the beach with Shane and Mal be back tonight.
Dr Roberts: Ok have fun then.
When Summer left he got on the phone and called Sandy in Newport. He found out that Seth was ok and that Luke and his friends were in jail for two months like the paper had said but seeing they had only just found out about it in Fiji they only had a month left in there. What it did not say was that Seth was busy trying to find out where Summer had gone he wanted her to know the truth that he did not do what she thought, and that he was set up by Anna and Luke and that her baby was Luke’s not his but there was no way he could get to her to tell her because no one would tell him where she was. That’s when Dr. Roberts came up with the idea for Seth the write to the newspaper and for them to tell his story after that Dr. Roberts would fly him out to Fiji he would let Summer find the newspaper but only the last part of it so that when she went looking for it all she would find the rest of it with Seth.
