Why did Shannen leave and will she be back? Shannen was fired and to this day has vowed she will not return, nor will she allow her image to be used in any future episodes. There has been much speculation about her return, but neither petition or any negotiations have been successful. In a nut shell, Alyssa Milano went to the "powers that be" and said that either Shannen goes or she would leave.... since season four was already slated to have a tremendous storyline between the characters of Phoebe and Cole, it was more prudent to get rid of Shannen than Alyssa.
