TEASER

EXT. Street Intersection (Fire) - Day

The street's blocked off as firefighters battle a blaze. Smoke billows out the third floor windows. Police hold off worried spectators. Down the street, paramedics have set up a triage unit as Paige pulls up. She jumps out, views the crowd, and then spots Phoebe. "Anybody get hurt?" Phoebe: "Not that I know of…" Paige asks if she's seen Agent Brody and Phoebe asks why they're there. Paige says Brody told them to meet him there right away. Phoebe says it's a fire and Paige: "So?" Phoebe: "So, we don't do fires - firemen do fires. We do fire balls." Paige tells her that he said it might have something to do with the New Power he's been tracking. Phoebe lets her know that they don't just drop everything because he gets a hunch…then she apologizes, saying she's a little stressed since it's her first week back at the paper. Brody approaches, walkie talkie in hand, talking to it, and barely slows down long enough to tell the sisters to follow him and keep an eye on the third floor. Phoebe asks why and Brody tells her someone's trapped…"If I'm right, he's gonna jump, but he won't get hurt." Paige asks how he knows that. Brody says it's a hunch. Paige: "Look, agent Brody…" Brody: "Kyle." Paige: "Kyle, huh…" Phoebe interrupts them but is interrupted herself when someone yells out "He's gonna jump!" The three turn to see Quincy, terrified, step onto the ledge. Firemen try to maneuver the ladder closer, but a blast from the fire shatters the window next to him, scaring him, causing him to jump. As he falls, he reaches out for the second story ladder, which ratchets down, slowing his fall, and deposits him safely onto the sidewalk below. Paige looks at Kyle: "How'd you know?" Brody: "Because, that's the fourth fire victim that's happened to in the last month - which means if the pattern holds, he's about to die now, too." Phoebe: "What?" Brody's on the move again, looking skyward, and talking into his walkie talkie again, "Stay on the victim, keep recording…" Phoebe, looking up, prays he's not talking tot he helicopter, but of course, he is. Looking on among the spectators is Sarpedon, razor-sharp talons just barely visible extending from his cuffs. He watches Quincy, then blurs out.

EXT. Down the Street - Day

Quincy tries to assure two firefighters he's okay, but they tell him the EMT's need to check him out to make sure so he heads towards the triage area. Brody hurries towards him and the sisters hurry after Brody. Brody calls to Quincy, and as Quincy turns to look over his shoulder, time stops…cars, the fire, the spraying water, everything is frozen, including Brody and the sisters. Quincy's Guardian: "Around the corner, listen for the…" but his message is halted by Sarpedon, as he forms from a dark blur and stands facing the Guardian. "Who are you?" Sarpedon: "A thief." With that, he touches an amulet around his neck and the Guardian get sucked into it. He looks to Quincy, "Looks like you're on your own now." He looks at Brody, wondering why he keeps seeing the man, then blurs off. Normal time is resumed, and Quincy, still looking back at Brody, keeps walking. Brody yells, "Stop….don't…" but it's too late. Quincy ignores him and steps off the curb, right as a delivery truck barreling down the street comes, slamming into Quincy, killing him instantly. Brody stops in his tracks, knowing something got what they were after even with his warning. Phoebe and Paige stand by with questioning looks, wondering how he knew.

ACT I

EXT. Street - Day

Near the accident, Quincy's body is covered as paramedics linger around, answering Agent Brody's questions. Meanwhile, police are asking questions of the shaken delivery driver. In the background, firefighters are coiling up their hoses, ready to leave, the fire is finally out. Paige and Phoebe are also looking around, clearly shaken, Phoebe wondering aloud how Kyle knew. Paige says she just wishes they could have stopped it. Phoebe asks what the connection is. Paige: "Hopefully, Kyle knows…" Phoebe, still leery of him, "Can we at least keep calling him Agent Brody until we can trust him?" Paige: "I trust him." Brody steps up and Paige asks if he's okay. Brody confirms he's not, then states he wishes he knew why 'this' keeps happening. Paige reminds him of the pattern he found and Brody elaborates, "Every time something incredibly…unusual happens, I investigate. And the more unusual it is, the more it tends to lead me to the New Threat I was telling you about. Paige; "The New Power." Brody confirms. Phoebe asks if the New Power has a name. Brody says he isn't sure. Paige asks if he thinks the New Power is what is killing all the innocents. Brody: "No, at least not directly. But I think they're doing something that causes them to get killed." Phoebe asks what, but Brody, still somewhat new to it all, admits he has no idea, but he's sure it has something to do with taking powers. Phoebe asks what powers, since innocents don't have any. Brody says maybe not, but unusual things don't' just happen and that's why he's convinced something supernatural is behind it all. Phoebe; "Another hunch?" Brody: "Don't knock 'em, my hunches led me to you, didn't they?" He stops, convinced, "Look, this won't be the last person to miraculously survive a fire, only to die moments later. If you want to help me figure out why, you know where to find me." With that, he crosses over to the helicopter, now parked in the sectioned off part of the street.

INT. Demonic Cave - Eternal Night

Sarpedon stands in the middle of a cave, waiting. A moment later, Aku, and older version of Sarpedon, shimmers in, demanding to know why Sarpedon summoned him. Sarpedon informs him "You said to call if I ever wanted to challenge you." Aku asks if he's really ready, since the last time he tried, "I spared your life, this time, I may not be so merciful." Sarpedon says he's ready and a duel between the two ensues. Once it's over, Aku says he's taught Sarpedon well, even though Sarpedon was injured. Sarpedon then says he hasn't come far enough, and that he needs more. Aku asks him "More what?" and Sarpedon says, "More Guardians." He steals them from humans to watch over him instead. Aku: "Just so you can defeat me?" Sarpedon: "No - so I can protect myself from the Great Threat you taught us was coming." Aku tells him that nothing can protect him from that, all they can do is go into hiding. Sarpedon says he won't hide, then looks to the amulet and says "I need more." At that, he shimmers out.

INT. Magic School - Great Hall - Day

Piper emerges from the hall making a bee-line for a book-cluttered table. Phoebe, trying to keep up, can't get a word in as Piper asks her to call Rex so he can meet the band for a sound check. "We haven't had a band at the club for awhile." Phoebe asks if Piper's heard a word she's said. Piper: "Yeah, yeah, Brody, fires, hunches - I've got my own problems." Then, she pauses before asking, "Are you sure Enola graduated already?" Phoebe: "Positive, why?" Piper starts flipping through the books as Phoebe asks what she's looking for. Piper: "She helped you see your future with a Vision Quest, didn't she? Gave you a little something to look forward to. That's what Leo needs." Phoebe says that's not necessarily what Leo will see and that Vision Quests can take you anywhere…adding that they can even be dangerous. Piper: "Can't be any more dangerous than what's happening to him now. If that stupid New Power's still after him…" Phoebe tells her that a Vision Quest won't change that. Piper: "No, but it might help him fight them off. He's alone, Phoebe, and he's scared, I know it. He's forgotten who he is, what he's all about. And I'm afraid if I can't help him find his way back, we're going to lose him for good. I cant' let that happen, I WON'T let that happen." Phoebe tells her it's still risky and Piper tells her it's a risk she's willing to take. Phoebe turns to the shelves and starts to pull down a couple specific books. Piper asks what she's doing and Phoebe lets her know that she's working on a potion to send Leo on his vision quest…Enola showed her how. Piper asks about Brody, but Phoebe says that Paige can handle him on her own. "From what I gather, she'd probably prefer it that way, anyway. Besides, THIS is family."

EXT. Brody's Apartment - Day

On a computer screen, we see a still frame taken from the chopper earlier. A very clear image looking down at Quincy, Brody and the sisters…the same moment everything seemed to be frozen. Brody manipulates the image by entering new commands into his keypad. The image shifts into the gamma ray spectrum, which shows an angelically shaped white figure close to Quincy and an ominous dark blur, moving towards them. As he studies the picture, there's a knock at the door. Brody, still looking at the image, "Nobody's home." A beat later, Paige orbs in behind him, "Liar." Brody says he's sorry, he didn't know it was her, didn't think she'd even show up. Paige asks why he thought that. Brody says it's because it's clear her sister doesn't trust him. Paige: "Should she?" Brody says yes. Paige asks what happened to Inspector Sheridan. Brody asks if it really matters. Paige says it would if he hurt her and Brody responds with the fact that he's not there to hurt anyone, he's there to keep people from getting hurt. Paige: "Still, how you know people might actually get hurt is precisely what makes us so suspicious about you, Agent Brody." Brody: "Kyle." Paige sees the image, back in it's normal state, for the first time, "What's that?" Brody tells her, then informs her about the infrared image and switches it for her. Paige asks what the figures are. Brody says if he had to guess, he's say the white being is some sort of protector. Paige: "Protector? What, you mean like…a Guardian Angel?" Brody: "You don't believe in them?" Paige: "You do?" Brody laughs, saying it's the only reason he can think of as to why he's still alive. Paige looks back to the image and asks how to find out what the darker image is. Brody: "We wait for it at the next fire. Interested?"

EXT. Golden Gate Bridge - Tower - Day

Leo sits on the edge as the familiar wind blows. Alpha's voice talks to him then Gamma's. Leo stands and tells them to leave him alone and asks why they're doing this to him, what they want from him. At wit's end, he orbs out. Gamma asks if maybe they pushed him too far, and Alpha says he must join willingly, but he must be broken to do so. Alpha, sensing something, steps closer to the edge of the tower and opens his palms toward the city. Gamma ask what he's doing. Alpha informs him that there may be another way and tells Gamma they need to stay with him.

INT. Manor - Attic - Day

Piper's calling for Leo, but he's not responding. "I know he can hear me, he won't come." Phoebe: "Allow me." With that, she calls out, "Leo, if you don't get your butt down here right this instant, we'll summon it, you hear me?" A beat later, he reluctantly orbs in asking what they want. After some talk about the boys, they tell him about the Vision Quest idea. He doesn't want to do it but Piper pleads her case and in the end, he agrees. Phoebe goes to get the ingredients from the kitchen while Leo tells Piper it could be dangerous. Piper; "I know, but the alternative is worse."

EXT. Modern Office Building (another fire) - Day

Flames fill the screen as Paige orbs in with Brody. Paige, surprised by the smoke and flames, starts coughing. "Okay, when I said I'd help, I'm not sure this is what I had in mind…" Brody tells her to go, that he'll be okay. Paige tells him it's crazy, then asks how he'll be okay. Brody says he's still got his guardian angel and if he's right, whoever set the fire is waiting for him. He tells her to say the spell after he's safe so they can see what's going on and "Don't worry about me." Paige: "Too late." She orbs out, leaving him alone. He closes his eyes and asks "Which way?" Seemingly receiving his answer, he opens his eyes.

EXT. Downtown Office Building - Day

Paige stands, watching nervously, with other onlookers, scanning the crowd for anything suspicious. Suddenly, a scream alerts her to Brody, covering his face, as he jumps through the flames and falls to the ground. A first story canopy gives under his falling weight, but slows him down enough to break his fall. Brody says he's okay, then catches Paige's eye and gestures for her to say a spell. As she does, everything stops again, everything except Paige this time. She watches as a ray of white light comes down, and forms into Brody's Guardian. Paige: "So it's true…" The Guardian starts to say something, but Sarpedon interrupts, "What have we here, a witch?" Paige turns to look at him. "You're not getting his Guardian." Sarpedon: "Why would I want his - when I could have yours?" Paige turns to her other side just in time to see her own Guardian get sucked into Sarpedon's amulet. As he blurs away, normal time is resumed and Brody asks Paige what happened. Paige, slowly realizing it, "I think I'm in big trouble."

ACT II

INT. Manor - Kitchen - Day

Phoebe, ear to phone, finishes mixing up a bowl of bubbling brew. She's flanked by two books on Vision Quests as well as the Book of Shadows. She's talking to Elise, explaining that something's come up…again…but reassuring her not to worry about the column. A heavy clatter, followed by a solid thump, is heard from the man hall and Phoebe says she has to go, hangs up, and goes out to see what happened.

INT. Manor - Main Hall/Stairs - Day (continuous)

There on the steps is a fallen Paige who tells Phoebe not to worry, that she's okay. Phoebe asks what happened. Brody: "Par for the course, unfortunately." Phoebe: "Par for what course? What are you doing here?" Brody: "Trying to protect your sister." Paige, explaining, "I lost my Guardian Angel." Phoebe: "Excuse me?" Brody: "Protection spirits, guides - they're with us all the time." Phoebe, already knowing, "Thank you…" Paige: "He's not kidding, Phoebe. They're not just Hallmark cards, they actually exist." Brody: "Except that without them, people tend to be vulnerable…" Paige: "Or in my case, accident prone." Phoebe wants to know how she lost hers and Brody says he was trying to lose his, but the demon stole Paige's instead. Phoebe leads Paige off as Brody watches.

INT. Manor - Conservatory - Day (continuous)

Phoebe stops and turns Paige around so they're face to face. She asks her what's going on. Paige tells her they were just after a demon that Kyle has a hunch is connected to the New Power. Since everything he's said has panned out, Paige wants to look at the Book. Phoebe: "Hold it, you're not seriously going to let him see the Book?" Paige: "Why not? Besides, if it won't let him touch it, we'll know he's evil, right? It's a no-lose situation." Then she adds if it'll make Phoebe feel any better, she can come with them. Phoebe, looking at the bowl with the Vision Quest brew, "No, Leo needs…some serious help." Paige asks what else is new. Phoebe then changes her mind, saying Leo will have to wait. Paige tells her to go to Leo and if her and Brody find anything out, they'll call. Phoebe: "Alright, just be careful." Paige; "I think I can handle one lousy demon." Phoebe: "I was talking about Kyle," and with that, she leaves.

INT. Manor - Main Hall - Day (continuous)

Phoebe walks past Brody without saying a word and heads up the stairs. A moment later, Paige follows. Brody asks if everything's okay and Paige tries to assure him it is, until she turns for the kitchen, trips, and falls out of frame, claiming "I'm all right!" as Brody stoops over to help her.

INT. Manor - Attic - Day

Piper and Phoebe face Leo, who looks far less than all right. "She lost her WHAT?" Phoebe: "Guardian Angel. But it's okay." Leo: "It doesn't sound okay…" Piper tells him they can handle it. Phoebe, trying to calm him, "Leo, look, everyone gets last minute jitters before starting a Quest. You just have to trust everything's going to be fine." Leo asks Piper if she's sure about him doing this. Piper says she knows it's a risk, but it's worth it if it helps. Phoebe asks if he's ready. She holds up the bowl and he sniffs it, wincing. "You actually drink that?" Phoebe: "Yep. You might want to lie down." Leo gets into position and Phoebe hands him the bowl. Leo: "Okay. Anything else?" Phoebe gives him some more instructions, he nods, and with a final look to Piper, he drinks. As it takes effect, he looks to Piper one last time, hands her the bowl and Phoebe gives him one more bit of last second advice. He nods as his eyes drift shut…then, his whole body gently hovers off the ground. Piper: "Uh…did that happen to you?" Phoebe: "No…"

EXT. WWII - Leo's Vision Quest - Day

Leo opens his eyes and looks around. The sound of explosions and gunfire grow around him as we see he's in a medics tent. Past Leo is saying they've got to stop the bleeding because a soldier is going into shock. A nurse gets to work as Past Leo glances to the battlefield. Past Leo: "The other men need me. I've got to go back out there and…" before he can finish, a mortar strikes the tent and it explodes. Leo feels the blast and dives behind a Jeep, freaked out, calling to the heavens, "What's going on? What am I doing here?" A ricocheting bullet causes him to flinch, then he hears a voice, telling him not to worry. Leo turns to the voice, familiar, as a man hustles over and sits down next to him. It's his son, adult Chris. "I'll help you through this, dad."

INT. Manor - Attic - Day

Piper and Phoebe watch over Leo's floating body as he mumbles, "Chris…"

INT. Demon Cave - Eternal Night

Aku falls to the ground, howling in pain as he holds his bleeding shoulder. "Well done…I'm sorry to say." Sarpedon, touching the amulet, "Witches have powerful Guardians, especially a Charmed One's." Aku asks how he knows it was a Charmed One, and Sarpedon tells him it's the only explanation since it's the most powerful one he has. Aku tells him it still won't be enough to protect him once the Avatars come. Sarpedon, plotting, "Perhaps not…unless I get the other two." Aku asks how he'll get them. Sarpedon says he'll listen to the one he's got and she'll tell him when the others need their Guardians the most. Sarpedon says Aku has taught him well and Aku says he just hopes he taught him well enough.

INT. Manor - Kitchen - Day

Paige, flipping through the Book, suddenly knocks over her glass of water that was a tad too close. Brody catches it without spilling a drop and hands it back to her with, "Careful." Paige: "Yeah. Guess I never knew how much I relied on my Guardian, even for little things." Brody tells her not to worry, that they'll get her guardian back. Paige goes back to the Book and ask Brody to help. Brody crosses the room and flips a page, "Feel better?" Paige, trying to cover, "What do you mean?" Brody: "I assume the Book won't let evil touch it, at least from what I understand most magical tomes won't." She's busted, and her face shows it, as Brody continues, "how much more do I have to do to prove I'm not a threat to you?" Paige says she's sorry, but she's a little skittish, especially since she can't even trust herself right now. Brody tells her Guardians do more than just keep a person upright. They're a person's inner voice, their conscious, and without one, a person is bound to feel a little lost. Paige tells him that sounds more like a believer than just research. Brody confirms he does believe, after hunting the New Power for years, it's forced him to. They flip through the Book some more when Paige tells him to wait, they've found their demon. She reads from the Book, "Celerity Demons are powerful beings who can move at the speed of light, and feed off of lesser demons." Brody: "Guardian Angels are hardly lesser demons." Paige says this one's found a way to steal them, but wants to know why. Brody says it has to be connected to the New Power somehow and Paige is still worrying about getting her Protector back, then they can worry about vanquishing the demon.

INT. Manor - Attic - Day

Phoebe circles where Leo is, still in his Vision Quest, within the protection crystals. Piper, looking stressed, sits by her still floating husband. Phoebe: "You sure you don't want to help me finish putting up the crystals?" Piper says she's fine where she is. Phoebe tells her that she was the one who said Leo needed this. Piper admits she's having second thoughts. Phoebe tries to reassure her, saying his Guardian Angel is watching over him. Piper says he's dead, he can't have a Guardian Angel. Phoebe says they still have theirs. Piper: "As long as those crystals work…" she looks to Leo and tells him he can do it.

EXT. Jeep/WWII Beach - Leo's Vision Quest - Day

Leo and Chris sit against the Jeep, the sounds of gunfire and explosions now gone. "But I don't understand, if I'm in the past, what are you doing here?" Chris: "I'm guiding you." Leo: "So, are you…real?" Chris says he's not, but he represents something that is. "I died in your arms, Dad, killed by all that you thought was good…I'm your root pain, okay? And I'm gonna be sticking with you until you're ready to let me go." Leo asks how he'll know when that is. Chris ignores him, telling him to "Come on, let's go check out some parts of your life that you really need to remember." Leo asks if he has a choice. Chris tells him it's his Quest and it's up to him., "Just keep in mind, this might hurt a little…" Leo; "Hurt?" Before Chris can answer, they're transported.

INT. Manor - Attic - Leo's Vision Quest - Day

Chris stands with Leo, watching his reaction. Leo reaches out to help his past self, but Chris holds him back, "Hang on, you can't change things here, remember? No one can see you. Your only job is to watch and learn." Leo, "But that pain…" They watch as Past Piper and Past Leo hurry out, oblivious to them. Chris says if he can remember the pain, he can remember where the pain led him.

EXT. Alley - Leo's Vision Quest - Day

Past Leo and Past Piper lean against a wall, holding each other, as Past Leo tells Past Piper he never stopped loving her. Past Piper, feeling the same way, is drawn to him, kissing him. Chris turns to Leo, "You see? You died in the war, but were reborn as a Whitelighter…you fought evil, but that led you to mom…you fought the Elders for Wyatt and won, overcame a Darklighter for me…" Leo says it was luck. Chris tells him it wasn't. "Every struggle you've had has only led to good." Leo: "Then what about Gideon? He tried to kill Wyatt. And you…" Chris: "Is that what you think?" Before he can answer, Chris opens an alley door.

INT. Manor - Main Hall - Leo's Vision Quest - Day

Past Phoebe hands Past Piper newborn baby Wyatt. The proud parents look at their son, then kiss through tears of joy. Leo and Chris stand in the doorway, transfixed. Leo cant' help but tear up, "I do see…" Chris: "Good. Now keep looking…" Chris points through the open archway to…

INT. Hospital - Leo's Vision Quest - Day

Past Paige and Past Phoebe look on as a nurse hands Past Leo his other newborn son, baby Chris, and Past Leo lets the tears flow. Paige Phoebe: "Oh, look at him, he's so beautiful….baby Chris." Past Paige, looking at Past Leo: "Looks like you didn't lose him after all." In the hospital's hallway, Chris looks to Leo, asking him if he understands. Chris didn't die, Leo saved him, allowing him to be born. He saved Wyatt from becoming evil. "Everything you've done, all the pain and sacrifice, it leads to a better future for everyone." He pauses as that sinks in, then, "So, you ready to let me go?" Leo says he is and before Chris can leave, "I love you, son." Chris: "I love you too, dad…time to get on with our life now." With that, Chris fades away and Leo takes a breath, ready to leave his Quest.

INT. Manor - Attic - Day

Leo's eyes open and he sees…"Piper". She looks at him as he comes out of the Quest and gently lowers back to the ground. She smiles at him. "Hey. You made it. He made it." Phoebe: "Welcome back. How do you feel?" Leo's expression, peaceful and loving, should be answer enough…but suddenly he sees, up by the ceiling, a Creature head, "NO…." Piper: "'No'? What are you talking about?" From Piper's point of view, she doesn't see any sign of the Creature's head anywhere. The head swoops down, entering Leo's mouth, slamming him into unconsciousness. Piper, freaked, "What happened? Leo? Leo, wake up!"

INT. Mausoleum - Another Vision Quest for Leo - Day

His eyes fling open and he comes face to face with a Creature head, which flies towards him, then forms into Gamma. Leo asks who he is and what he's done. Gamma: "Brought you to the next part of your journey." Leo tells him his Quest is over. Gamma: "The first half - where you were told all your pain and suffering was in service of a better future. But I think when you see the REAL future, you'll find it's not better at all."

ACT III

INT. Manor - Attic - Day

Leo's on the floor, sweating and shivering, as Piper and Phoebe frantically try to wake him but nothing's working. "We've got to do something!" Phoebe: "There's nothing we can do. He's back in the Quest." Piper: "But he was just OUT of it. Right up until he gave me that look…like he saw something coming…" Phoebe: "We're in the crystal cage, nothing should be able to get near us." Piper asks about the New Power. Phoebe says she didn't see any floating heads. Piper: "No, but I think he did…and now it's in there with him."

INT. Mausoleum - Leo's New Quest - Day

Leo stumbles back against a wall with bronze markers…Patricia Halliwell, Penny Halliwell, Prudence Halliwell…"You can't be doing this." Gamma, approaching, "This is your true future, Leo, everyone's future." Leo asks who he is. Gamma: "The solution, Leo. An Avatar." Leo: "You're the ones who've been haunting me." Gamma: "Not haunting, guiding. Haunting suggests evil and we're not evil." Leo: "Yeah? Could've fooled me." Gamma: "The Creature Heads were a necessary part of guiding you to the Truth that's beyond good and evil. The Truth written here." He points to a series of new markers "The Halliwell line and your line, magical, good, and dead." We see on the markers, Paige's name, Phoebe's, Piper's, Wyatt's…and Chris'…all listed with very short lives, 30's and early 40's…"THIS is the real future that Chris failed to mention. Death and more death. Some peaceful, some painful…but always inevitable, and all well before their time." Leo heads away from the markers, refusing to accept that it's true. Gamma says he can't deny it. "Everyone in the world who lives, and everyone who ever will live…they're all going to die. And in service of what? The pointless, endless battle between good and evil." Leo: "No.." Gamma: "What else do you call a thing that only leads to suffering? Fighting evil doesn't get you to good. It perpetuates an endless pattern." Leo: "Not if good wins." Gamma says the fight between good and evil has been going on since the beginning of time and there is no winner. Leo says there can be. Gamma asks how. "With good, there is always evil, so the battle never ends. Not until there's nothing left. That is the future your fight is leading to. Not good. Not evil. Nothing." The Avatar, now at the mausoleum entrance, whips the door open to reveal a wasteland, windswept under a post-apocalyptic sky. Leo backs up, horrified.

INT. Manor - Attic - Night

Leo twists, shouting "No!", as Piper and Phoebe grow more frantic. "Leo, who are you talking to?" Phoebe remind her that he can't hear her. "Well, he's hearing something…" The outer hall/door, empty for a moment, is soon filled as Sarpedon shimmers in and he turns to watch. Piper's telling Leo to listen to her. Smiling, Sarpedon touches his amulet, then takes a step forward, blurring super-fast into the attic, causing the crystal barrier to activate as it repels him. As he crashes, his blur becomes his solid form. Piper and Phoebe, startled, turn to face him.

INT. Manor - Kitchen - Night

Paige, hearing the crash in the middle of filling a potion vial, looks up. Brody, curious, looks up as well. "What was that?" Paige: "Stay here." Brody asks what's going on and Paige tells him to stay put as she grabs a vial and orbs out. Not one to run from a fight, Brody pulls out his gun and heads up after her.

INT. Manor - Attic - Night

Sarpedon stands and examines the cage. Clearly he wasn't expecting it. Phoebe says she guesses his Guardians forgot to warn him. Sarpedon: "That's why I want yours…so these kinds of things don't happen again." Paige orbs in, but loses her balance and falls over. Sarpedon turns as Paige throws her vial. His amulet flares as he blur spins just in time to knock the vial to the floor. Sarpedon, looking at her, "You're becoming a pain." Phoebe yells at Paige to get in the cage with them. Paige orbs in and Sarpedon tells them they can't hide in there forever. Brody approaches, calling for Paige, gun in hand. He reaches the landing and stops, shocked, as he sees the demon for the first time. Sarpedon blurs up to him, taloned claw to Brody's throat and Brody fires point blank into him. Paige calls for Sarpedon to leave Brody alone. Sarpedon, "There's too much at stake. Besides, I could use the leverage." With that, Sarpedon blurs away, taking Brody with him.

INT. Demon Cave - Eternal Night

Brody hits the cave wall and tumbles to the ground. Lip bloodied, scared, but trying not to show it. "You're not a witch, what are you?" Brody: "I'm a…federal agent." Sarpedon: "A…what?? And you know about all this? Magic? Demons?" Brody says he's getting a quick education. Sarpedon: "It won't do you much good. " He tells Brody he only needs him long enough for the witches to attempt a rescue, and since they're busy, and down one Guardian already, he knows they won't all come at once, and that's when he'll attack. Brody asks why he wants so many Guardians. Sarpedon says he doesn't want them, he needs them. Brody: "Worried about the New Power, are you?" Sarpedon: "You know about the Avatars?" Brody: "Avatars…is that what they're called?" Sarpedon confirms that fact, then adds that he won't be one to be cast aside when the time comes for them to take Power…which is why he needs more Guardians, which is the only reason Brody's still alive.

ACT IV

INT. Manor - Attic - Night

Phoebe's with Paige, who's using Brody's gun to scry with. Phoebe says they can't just rush off after him. Paige says they can, because once they find him, the orb in and vanquish him. Phoebe asks about his force field and his speed. Paige says "The Power of Three can take him." Phoebe says she doesn't know that. Paige says they have to try, since he risked his life to save her. Piper says she understands, but if she goes they won't have the Power of Three and she can't leave Leo. Paige says she's going to go alone then and Phoebe reminds her she doesn't even have her Guardian. Paige grabs a vial and orbs out.

INT. Demon Cave - Eternal Night

Paige orbs in, looking around, potion vial at the ready. She whispers for, "Kyle?", not seeing him as Sarpedon watches her, thinks about attacking, but decides to wait. He shimmers out as Paige approaches the middle of the cave, constantly spinning around, looking for any signs of the demon. She whispers for Kyle again. Paige keeps going in her search, not noticing that Brody, unconscious, has been tied to the ceiling.

INT. Manor - Attic - Night

Phoebe stares at the scrying crystal where Paige let it fall. "All right…we know where they are. All we need to so is mix a new vanquishing potion, then get Paige's spell…" Piper: "Great, except to do that we'll need the Book, which is downstairs, away from the crystals where the demon can slice and dice us." Phoebe: "But for all we know, the demon has Paige right now." Piper; "Us risking getting killed won't change that." Phoebe; "Okay, but what does your Guardian Angel say?" Piper: "My 'Guardian Angel'?" Phoebe says Paige and Brody were talking about the hunches, listening to their Angels, and asks Piper again what hers says. Piper: "That Paige lost hers going after this demon." Phoebe: "Really? 'Cause mine says something different. It says Paige, Brody and Leo are all in trouble, but as much as it hurts, there's nothing we can do for Leo, he has to fight his fight alone. Still, there's a chance we can help our sister." Piper takes that in, looks over to Leo, and Piper takes a breath to focus herself and listen. When she turns back to Phoebe, she knows what she has to do. "Let's just make it fast." Phoebe nods, "You grab the Book, I'll grab the stuff for the potion. If he attacks, go for the amulet." At that, the sisters rush out the door.

INT. Manor - Stairs/Main Hall/Dining Room - Night

As Phoebe rounds the corner into the dining room, Piper trails behind her on the stairs. Sarpedon shimmers into the main hall, between the sisters, taloned hand raised. Piper sees him first and calls out to Phoebe. Phoebe spins as Piper gestures to blow him up. But Sarpedon's too fast and blurs out of the way. He heads for Phoebe, who instinctively lifts her hands up as Sarpedon smashes into her, driving her across the dining room table with his taloned hand. Piper rounds the corner to see Phoebe, mortally wounded. Sarpedon turns to Piper, "Next." But before he blurs, he hears Phoebe, "Where's your amulet?" He looks down to see it' not around his neck, then looks back at Phoebe, who opens her fist to reveal that she has it in her hand. Piper screams, Sarpedon, pissed, turns and blurs, charging for Piper as, simultaneously, Piper blasts him. The demon explodes in a fiery vanquish. His dismembered hand keeps flying forward, spearing Piper through the chest. She falls down and looks up, just as the talons, too, disappear, but the mortal wound remains. As she drops her head back, losing strength fast, she weakly calls out for Leo.

EXT. Desert Wasteland - Leo's New Quest - Day

Leo asks what the place is. Gamma: "This is the nothingness in the eternity that awaits you." Leo says there has to be another way. Gamma: "There is. And you are the key. You can trade pain and suffering for peace with people you love. All you have to do is surrender." Leo: "Surrender?" Gamma: "Join us, Leo. Surrender your free will. That's not such a high price for saving Humanity, is it? Don't' worry. You don't have to answer yet. After all, there's still one more thing to see." He waves his hand.

INT. Manor - Attic - Night

On the floor Leo's eyes pop open as he bolts awake. Morning light shines in the windows. He sits up and looks around. "Piper? Phoebe?" Gamma watches from across the room. Gamma: "They're not here Leo. You see, we need you to get to the sisters. And now you need us…at least, if you want them saved." Leo, dread growing, "Saved from what?" Silently, Gamma look to the open attic door and Leo, getting the meaning, rushes out.

INT. Manor - Stairs/Main Hall/Dinging Doom - Night

Leo hustles down the steps, stopping short when he sees the bodies of his wife and his sister-in-law, Piper in the foyer, Phoebe behind the dining room table, "No…no!" Gamma: "Will you join us, Leo?" Leo, anguished, "If I do, can I save them?" Gamma: "It's the only way to save everyone." Leo, desperate, agrees. Gamma holds out his palms to Leo and as he does, an incredibly bright light passes between them. Smiling, Gamma lowers his hands, "Welcome to the fold." Leo: "But, what do I do?" Gamma: "Heal them." Leo: "I can't heal them, they're dead." Gamma: "You're an Avatar now, Leo - you have unlimited powers." Leo, confused, watches as Gamma disappears. Looking between the two sisters, not sure what to do, Leo extends his hands out, trying to reach them both. A high powered glow comes from his hands and into Piper and Phoebe, filling them with light. Paige orbs into the hall, with a slightly groggy Brody, what they see stuns them both. Paige: "Leo?" The light leaves his hands and moments later, Piper and Phoebe come around, all signs of their fatal wounds gone. Leo hurries to help Piper to her feet. Piper: "Leo…you're back. Wow, I thought I was…" Phoebe, finishes, "Dead." Paige crosses to Phoebe and Phoebe checks out where she thought she was stabbed. Paige spots the amulet, "Where'd you get that?" Phoebe, remembering, "Off the demon, I guess.' Paige: "Wait, so you vanquished him? Without the potion?" Phoebe: "Guess we didn't need it." Brody: "So, that's it? It's over?" Piper, turning to Leo, "Is it?" Leo just nods. Paige can't help herself, feeling something's not right, "I've never seen you save anyone like that before." Piper: "Did something happen to you on the Vision Quest?" Leo asks what she means. Piper: "While you were there, you were acting like you were…in pain." Leo: "Yeah, well…I guess it's part of seeing the Truth."

INT. P3 - Night

The band rocks the house as the crowd cheers, dancing to the song. The sisters sit with drinks at a table and Paige raises her glass, "I'd like to propose a toast. Us, one. The New Power, zero." They clink their glasses as Piper adds, "And I hope the game ends there." Phoebe: "That's cause you're not hot for a certain secret agent man." Paige: "Excuse me, there is nothing going on between me and Kyle." Phoebe teases her a bit more and Paige brings up the Avatars. Piper says they don't sound familiar…and Phoebe says they'll have to ask Leo about them. Just then, Leo, looking great, takes a seat beside Piper. Phoebe: "Wow, check you out." Piper: "Hey, don't check him out too hard." Phoebe: "What - I'm pleased to see the Vision Quest worked. It did work, didn't it?" Leo: "Sure. It's like I'm seeing the world with new eyes." Phoebe raises a glass, "Another toast. Welcome back, Leo!" The four are about to clink glasses when Paige tips a glass of water, almost knocking it over…but catches it just in time. Still, she can't help but smile, "And welcome back to my Guardian Angel." Piper: "Welcome back everyone." They clink their glasses as Piper and Leo share a look.
