Paige rounds the corner with a little girl, April, around 12 years old, and her father. Paige: "But the wizard didn't take into account the weight of the books. So after the shelves broke, he had to re-conjure the whole library. Of course, since he was a wizard, it only took him a few minutes." April and her father laugh at the story and Paige continues, "Yeah, cute story, isn't it?" then, more to herself, "The first ten times you tell it." Father: "Excuse me?" Paige dodges and keeps up a good face, continuing on. "Our tour's about to end. So, is there anything else you want to ask about the facilities…student life…teachers?" Suddenly a classroom door blasts open and Drake flies into the hall, slamming into the wall, followed b an ominous puff of smoke. Paige, April and her father turn as Drake pulls himself up to his feet while proudly looking back toward his classroom, "Bravo!" Drake nods and snaps his fingers to the classic up-tempo beat of the song blaring from the class. Paige makes the introductions, "This is Professor Drake. This is April…one of the students who's applying." Drake turns to April, "Salutations!" Paige: "Drake's our visiting lecturer in Advanced Magical Compositions." Drake: "In this case, Magical Musical compositions. The use of meter and tempo in spell-casting and conjuring." He turns back to his class, "That's good! The troll's here…let's see if he wants to dance!" April and her father look into the classroom as they hear the thumps of the troll starting to do a dance. April's excited, "Wow. Will I get to take his class?" Drake: "Sure, why not?" Paige: "Actually…Professor Drake is going on, uh….a sabbatical in a week." Drake: "Oh, right, sorry, forgot about that little wrinkle…but rest assured, with eager minds and the power of magic, 'Tis midsummer madness all the time' around here, right, Ms. Matthews?" Paige hesitates and Drake answers for her, "Of course it is! No, if you'll excuse me, it's my turn to cut in." With that, he slides back into the classroom and shuts the door as Paige looks on.
EXT. Street/Vacant Lot - Day
A car door slams and a motorist bails out of the vehicle, running as fast as he can. Across the street is a jewelry store, but this side is only a vacant lot, where all traffic has been stopped by a security guard, Mike, who's in the road with a gun, howling like a madman, "I'm telling you, they'll burn!" He sweeps his gun toward some of the jewelry shop's customers, "Don't you understand? They're trapped…we're all trapped!" He starts waving the gun frantically at a pair of cars stuck in traffic. Immediately, another driver leaps out and sprints away. An elderly woman cowers behind a dashboard. Mike goes to her, desperate, "I don't want to hurt anybody, I just need someone to listen to me! We need help!" An officer suddenly tackles Mike to the ground, pinning him, as Mike continues, "No, you don't understand…the fire!!" The officer gets the gun out of Mike's hand and starts to cuff him. "Don't move, pal, you're under arrest." Mike: "But you have to help them…you have to help Marie!" He quickly finishes cuffing Mike and hoists him to his feet, "Just calm down, buddy, it's all going to be fine." Mike: "No, it won't! You don't understand…the FIRE!!" The officer escorts him away while reporting in and as they leave, we see a for sale sign in the lot by abandoned machinery and as we look on, we hear faint traces of what happened years ago…people talking, cracking glass, a fire roaring…then, screams of people being burned alive.

INT. Manor - Piper's Bedroom - Day
Travel brochures and phrase books cover the bed…China, Egypt, Italy….Leo is reluctantly going through a big packed suitcase. Beside him, Wyatt sits playing by an eager-looking Piper, who's checking a list, "Rain gear for the kids?" Leo: "Yes…" Piper: "Camera and film…" Leo: "Of course…" Piper continues listing items, but Leo stops when she comes to "Pattini". Leo: "Pattini?" Piper: "Shoes, Leo. It's not a vacation in Italy unless you buy shoes." Then, she notices his look and asks him what's wrong. Leo says he's still not sure this is a good idea. Piper asks why not. Leo admits that he thinks they should stay until the Elders come to a decision about what they're going to do with him. Piper tells him they shouldn't wait, it's because of the Elder's decision that they need to this, since they don't know what's going to happen to Leo. They argue a bit longer about it, but in the end, Leo reluctantly agrees to go and with a twinkle of orbs, they're off to start their vacation.

Paige is clearing off the dining room table and adds a set a saucers to the growing tower in the kitchen sink. Phoebe follows with cups in hand and a phone in her ear, "Of course the place looks great…"plus, if we can get it moved, I can swap my salon appointment with the other interview and still make the Women and Careers luncheon…sure, call, I'll hold." Phoebe taps away on her palm pilot while she waits as Paige looks over, "All sounds pretty exciting." Phoebe; "I guess." Paige: "Phoebe, come on…you're getting profiled by Cosmo. That'd be cool whenever it happens." Phoebe: "Well, sure, but…I'm still trying to make the most of my day." Paige: "You also asked me to meet you here for breakfast at eight twenty-two. That's not 'making the most' - that's OCD. What's going on?" Phoebe: "I don't know…maybe meeting Drake and seeing what little time he has left makes me want to make the most out of mine. No time to waste." Paige: "Yeah, well, at least you're not wasting it at Magic School." Phoebe starts to question her, but the doorbell rings and the sisters go to answer it.
INT. Manor - Dining Room/Main Hall/Foyer - Day
Paige follows Phoebe as she charges out but Phoebe's already back on her phone. "Yes, Elise, still here. They can do it? Great, perfect - as long as the shoot's over by three though, because I'm speaking at City College…I should be there in about twenty-five minutes, see you soon…" Paige: "Jeez, woman, you're a machine." Phoebe, hanging up, "Every moment counts! Any chance you can help me get this place cleaned up by two?" Paige: "Anything not to have to go back to Magic School." Phoebe, at the door now, "Sounds like you've got issues…I can squeeze in sister time after my dinner meeting, say nine-ish?" Before she can respond, Phoebe whips the door open. "Darryl, hey, good to see you, gotta run…" She starts past Darryl, but he stops her, "Woah, wait, I need your help…" Phoebe; "I was afraid you were going to say that." Paige asks what's wrong. Morris: "I'm not sure, but I think I've been around you guys long enough to know when something's not right." Paige: "Something…magical?" Morris: "I don't know what else it could be." Phoebe: "Sorry, but I'm on the clock here, do you mind speeding things up a bit?" Morris: "My friend, Mike…my mentor, actually, he's the one who brought me into the force…I think he's been, I don't know…possessed maybe…he's not crazy, no matter what anybody says, I know it - he'd never hurt a fly." Paige: "Wait, hold it, back up to the possession part…" Morris: "Since Mike retired, he's been working security at a jewelry store over on Market. But lately, he's been having these strange…episodes." Phoebe: "Episodes?" Morris: "They kept becoming more and more frequent until yesterday when he just…snapped. Started waving his gun around, hollerin' about some terrible fire he's gonna die in at 'Cabaret Fantome'." Paige: "Never heard of it." Morris tells them the doctors think he may have been exposed to some toxic chemicals, but he knows it's something else, because it's like he becomes a totally different person. Phoebe says if she can move some of her appointments around, they'll have it figured out in no time, then doles out duties. She'll check the archives for the club, Paige is to go with Darryl and check out Mike and they'll meet back at the manor at 1:10. Then, she's out the door, leaving Paige to explain to Darryl, "She's just…really busy. Shall we?" And she escorts him out.
INT. County General Medical Ward - Mike's Room - Day
Mike is strapped to his bed and he's trying to get up, telling a nurse, "You've got to listen to me, please, I don't have much time!" The nurse exits, passing Paige and Darryl, who were observing by the doorway. Mike, defeated, lays back down, whimpering. Morris: "See what I mean?" Paige: "I don't know…this doesn't seem demonic." Morris: "Not demonic? I'm telling you, he acts like he doesn't even know me, like he doesn't even know who he is!" Paige: "But he's not hostile. It's more like he's…afraid." She enters cautiously and says hi, starting to tell him her name, he assumes, "Marie??" Paige: "No…Paige. Who's Marie?" Mike: "My fiancée, she's trapped, too." Paige: "Trapped where?" Mike: "In the club, with everyone else." Paige, guessing, "Cabaret Fantome?" Mie: "Yes, you know it? You believe me?" Morris: "Look, Mike, just try to relax, okay?" Mike: "George…my name's George, I keep telling you that! Why won't anybody listen to me? We're all going to die, don't you understand that?" Mike lurches up, grabbing for Paige, but the straps hold him back. He sags down as Morris pulls Paige away, convinced. "If that's not possession, what is it?" Paige: "I don't know, but I'm gonna find out."
INT. Bay Mirror - Phoebe's Office - Day
Elise, concerned, pokes her head in as Phoebe types at her computer, "You said I was going to have the column an hour ago." Phoebe tells her that her salon appointment ran long, but she'll have it before the deadline. Elise reminds her of the Cosmo photo shoot. Phoebe tells her that's why she went to the salon, and tries to reassure her that everything's under control. Just then, a research assistant slips into her office and drops a stack of photo copied articles on her desk. She glances at them, "Thanks, Will." Elise looks, reading, "Diabolical Death at Cabaret Fantome?" Phoebe: "It's, uh, research." Elise: "From 1899?" Phoebe does a double take, and sure enough, the year on the paper is 1899. Elise skims the article, still reading, "Over a hundred people burned to death in one of the worst fires our fair city has ever witnessed…" Phoebe: "The club's owner, Count Roget, who also died in the blaze, is suspected of setting the fire himself…" She glances down at a photo of Roget and wonders aloud, "Maybe Darryl's right…" Elise gives her a curious look, and Phoebe covers the rest of the papers, "Research, for tomorrow's column…I'll see you at the house, two o'clock, right?" Elise: "Wait, what about the deadline?" But Phoebe's already gone, leaving Elise flustered.

The photocopy of the headline with Roget's photo is dropped down on the table as Phoebe talks, "Cabaret Fantome, deadly fire, maybe Darryl's friend isn't so crazy…it seems the Count's club was the biggest, most-corrupt in the city, right up until it burned down, killing everyone inside." Paige: "But why would the Count start the fire only to die, too?" Phoebe: "Maybe he didn't get out fast enough." Paige: "Maybe we should ask George." Phoebe: "George? Who's George?" Paige: "If I'm right, he's someone who died in the fire…a spirit who's taken over Mike's body, crying out for help." Phoebe; "Help? Help from what? The fire happened over a hundred years ago." Drake: "Help from the pain of being a lost soul, perhaps…" He enters with a large, dusty old tome in hand, "Paige asked me to do a little research on the subject, in-between classes." He plops the book down on the table and Phoebe looks at the title, "Possessions, Confessions and Ghostly Obsessions - A Demon's Guide to Everything Magical." Drake: "I used to tell them lair to lair. Talk about a hard item to move." Phoebe scowls at that as Drake opens the book to a page titled 'Lost Souls' and Phoebe begins to read about them. "Lost souls are spirits unable to move on because of spiritual confusion." Paige: "Spiritual confusion?" Drake: "It's what happens when souls die together in a sudden, violent death. Like the fires of Gomorrah, the Great Flood, Pompeii…" As he says this, the book starts to shake and he places his hand on the page to settle it as he explains, "You might want to step back a tad, the book's a bit of a show-off…" As the sisters move, Drake lets go and a thick fat rope appears, running from the center of the book up to the Great Hall's ceiling, with a large, conspicuous knot tied in the middle of it. Drake: "Don't' be afraid, it's merely illustrating the point - that when souls die at once, the good ones can't move on because the bad ones are holding them back, and vice versa. Lost, stuck in-between their respective afterlives, unaware of their tragic state." Phoebe: "Uh…okay…but it lost souls are unaware, how can we help George move on?" Drake: "We can't…not unless we enter his world, find out which bad soul's holding his back." Phoebe; "Excuse me?" Drake: "Simple little spell will take us there, although I won't show it to you unless you take me with you." Phoebe: "US?" Drake: "Come on, how many chances to we have to go back to the 1890's?" Paige: "It's getting out of the 1890's that worries me." Drake: "Then worry not. The spell will only let us be with the souls until the moment they become lost…in this case, when the fire begins." Paige: "Then how do we free George's soul?" Drake: "Who knows, we'll wing it!" Paige: "I don't know…" Drake: "That's alright, you don't have to go…" he turns to Phoebe, "…but you do." Phoebe: "Me? No way, I can't, I've got an interview…" Drake: "Ah, what's an interview when places against the fate of an innocent? And if we are to help, your premonition power could prove essential. Plus, it's the next logical step in our whirlwind romance!" Phoebe: "WHAT whirlwind romance?" Drake: The one we'd be having if we had the time. But we don't…because I don't have long to live and a poor soul has come to you for help. What do you say?"
EXT. Vacant Lot /INT. Piper's Jeep - Day
Paige drives Piper's Jeep up to the vacant lot and parks. Drake rides shotgun and Phoebe's in the back, looking at the photo. Paige: "You sure this is the right address?" Phoebe: "Says here that's where the Cabaret used to be." Paige: "And the lot's still vacant? After 106 years?" Drake: "Probably haunted…or cursed…let's go!" Paige: "Hold it, wait…why can't we do this from home?" Drake: "Because the closer we are to where the souls were lost, the better chance we have of finding the exact one we're looking for. Pardon me." He crawls between the seats and gets in the back with Phoebe. Phoebe: "What are you doing?" Drake: "Getting comfortable…don't want my body slumped in the front seat, do we? Too conspicuous." He sees Phoebe has the palm pilot out again and snatches it out of her hands, "Living isn't about tasks, Phoebe, it's about…living." He snaps his fingers and in a flash, an old piece of parchment…the spell…appears in his hand. Phoebe: "Paige, you'll make sure Elise bumps the Cosmo interview two hours?" Paige: "I'm on it." Phoebe: "And we WILL be back before two hours, right?" Drake tells her they'll return when the fire begins then reads the spell. Instantly, both Drake's and Phoebe's heads slump back. Paige watches, nervous, then turns to the vacant lot.
INT. Cabaret Fantome - Eternal Night
Phoebe, now dressed in a burlesque costume, complete with a feathered headdress, and Drake, in full tux with tails, materialize on a landing at the top of some stairs overlooking the club. "Oh my…" The cabaret, not with just a few lost souls, but it's filled with them. Phoebe's overwhelmed, "This is…" Drake": "Fantastic! You look…stunning." Phoebe: "You don't look so bad yourself, for a ghost. Now what do we do?" Drake: "We…mingle." He offers his arm and she takes it as they head down the stairs into the crowd. Then, the man from the picture, Count Roget himself, spots Drake and Phoebe, "How the hell is that?" The Count's big bouncer/bartender, Toulouse: "Never seen 'em before, boss." Count Roget: "Then we're going to have to get rid of them."

Paige glances into the backseat to check on Phoebe and Drake, in plain view, then out of the corner of her eye, she sees an officer with her eyes on the Jeep. Paige: "Phoebe…now would be a really good time to wake up. Phoebe??" The officer approaches, "There's no parking here, Ma'am." Paige: "Oh, okay, sorry, I'll….move." The officer notices Phoebe and Drake, "What's with them?" Paige: "Oh, uh what? I mean, them? Well…they're my co-workers. We were celebrating this deal over lunch and, next thing you know, it's three martini's later…" she points to herself, "…designated driver." Officer: "Must have been one hell of a deal…move it." Paige: "Right…" She starts to pull away from the curb.

INT. Cabaret Fantome - Eternal Night
Phoebe and Drake are still maneuvering through the crowd, trying to take in the glittering spectacle all round them. "So, what, they're all stuck here in some ghostly limbo? As if the fire never even happened?" Drake: "Oh, it happened alright, otherwise they wouldn't be here…" Phoebe sees Drake ogling a Gypsy fortune teller and she grabs his arm, pulling him back to reality, "We're here for George, remember, not for you." Drake: "Sure, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy ourselves. I mean, it's 1899. You may not remember it, but I do…'The Gilded Age': A time when everyone thought life couldn't possibly get any better. There was culture, science, peace, romance. Everything was a celebration." Phoebe: "What celebration? These people are all dead, just like…" Marie: "GEORGE! What did you do to him?!" Drake follow Phoebe's look to a pretty waitress, who's confronting the fortune teller, Inez, "I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about…" Marie: "Don't like to me, I know you know where he is…he told me you would!" Inez: "Excuse me…" She gets up and walks off leaving Marie frustrated. "No, wait, please…" Phoebe, followed by Drake, steps up to her, "I'm sorry, I couldn't help but overhear…you know George?" Marie: "Who are you?" Phoebe: "That doesn't matter, but what does is that George…came to us for help. To stop the fire." Marie: "What fire? What are you talking about? I don't have time for this…" In no mood for games, Marie moves off to keep searching for George. Phoebe: "She doesn't know about the fire, either." Drake: "That's because it hasn't happened yet, at least, not as far as she's concerned. As far as they're all concerned." Phoebe: "Huh??" Drake: "Don't you see? It's the only possible explanation - they're not just stuck, they're doomed to repeat the last few hours over and over again until they're consumed by the fire - after which it all repeats again. It's a never-ending loop." Phoebe: "Well, that's sick. What could possibly cause that?" Drake: "'What'…or who?" The Count is at his table, smoking a cigar, looking across the club at Phoebe and Drake. "Well?" Toulouse: "They're not with the law, I don't' know where they came from." Roget: "I'm more interested in how they got in…and if they're my way out." Toulouse: "What do you mean?" The Count tells him everything, then asks for a scotch, champagne 'for the lady' and a cigar 'for the gentleman'. "I want them to be comfortable when I meet them."
INT. Manor - Conservatory - Day
Paige does her best to make Drake's body comfortable as she positions him on a chair across from Phoebe, whose body is stretched out on a couch. "If you're not back in two minutes, I'm calling Piper." Just then, the doorbell rings. "Great, now what?"
INT. Manor - Foyer/Main Hall - Day (continuous)
Paige heads out and opens the door to find Elise and a three-person camera crew from Cosmo. "Elise! What are you doing here?" Elise: "What do you mean? I'm here with Cosmo for the photo shoot…where's Phoebe?" Paige: "Uh, Phoebe…Didn't you get the message? She had to postpone the interview…" Elise: "WHAT?!" Paige; "Just for a couple of hours…" Elise, turning to the reporter: "I'll be just a moment." With that, she enters and closes the door on the others, laying into Paige, "I never got the message to push the shoot, are you out of your mind? We're talking national exposure here for her column, the kind you can't buy, and tonight's the deadline. I can't just push…" she stops suddenly as she spots Phoebe "asleep" on the couch. "Phoebe?!" Elise marches towards her with Paige on her heels. Elise: "Phoebe, we talked about this. You blow it with Cosmo once, they don't give you a second chan…What's the matter with her?" Paige jumps in front of Elise to make her stop and, more importantly, so she doesn't spot Drake. "Her? Um, well that's what I was trying to tell you…she's got, um…food poisoning." Elise; "Food poisoning?" Paige: "Shh…not so loud, you don't want to wake her. Let her sleep, she'll be fine." Elise: "When?? WHEN will she be fine?" Paige: "Well…" She deftly guides Elise back to the door, "In a couple of hours, like I said. Can't they just move the shoot to the office?" Elise: "Well that is where I originally wanted it, but…" Paige: "Then, that's perfect, we're all set…she'll be there, I promise." Elise: "She better be." Off that, Paige shuts the door on her and leans against it, letting out a heavy sigh then she hurries back into the conservatory.
INT. Manor - Conservatory - Day (continuous)
Paige rushes up and glares at the sleeping duo, then, urgently calls, "PIPER! LEO!!" A beat, then they orb in with the kids. Paige: "Hi! How's the vacation?" Piper; "This better be an emergency. We were about to go for a gondola ride." Paige: "Well…actually…" she nods towards Phoebe and Drake. Piper: "Per l'amor di dio!" Paige looks confused, Leo translates: "Oh for God's sake."

INT. Cabaret Fantome - Eternal Night
The piano player's moved on to his next number as Phoebe and Drake sit at the Count's private table. Drake is staring at a sexy dancer, who's strutting around backstage carrying two giant fans. Drake: "The fan dance!? I love the fan dance! Wait 'till you see it!" Roget: "Yes, it is really quite a sight. A beautiful woman on stage, with nothing between her and the audience except for two ostrich plume fans. The allure of the dance is to watch how she moves with the fans, showing only what she wants and not an inch more." Phoebe: "Is this dance ever performed by a man?" Drake: "It wouldn't be the same thing…believe me." Roget: "So, tell me, exactly how do you know George?" Phoebe: "What makes you think we do?" Roget says he saw them talking to Marie. Phoebe says she doesn't know what happened to him and Drake asks the Count if he knows. Roget says he's been concerned about George lately, best barkeep, been keeping an eye on him, seems upset lately, but doesn't go any further. Phoebe asks where he went again. Roget says he doesn't know, then asks how they found out about the club. Phoebe: "Ok, word gets out." Drake: "Yes, you can't keep a place like this hidden forever." Roget: "Why would I want to?" Phoebe: "I don't know, you tell us." Roget, turning to Drake: "Do you like the cigar?" Drake: "Quite. Splendid bouquet." Roget: "It's from my private collection, hand-rolled in Havana and shipped to my dealer, Philippe, across the street. Perhaps you'd like to take in the night air and pay him a visit." Phoebe: "Good idea. Care to join us?" Roget: "Sadly, I'm unable to leave the club." Drake: "Really, and why is that?" Roget: "The show must go on." He nods to a wall clock and the piano player finishes up his song, getting up, he announces, "Ladies and Gentlemen: Please welcome your host, Count Roget!" The Count stands, looking at the stage, "Feel free to enjoy the show from here. It's an experience that happens only once in a lifetime." Phoebe: "We're dying to see it." With a nod, Roget heads off. He pauses as he passes Toulouse and tells him, "If they leave, I want to know how they get out." Toulouse: "But the show's about to start. Why would they want to go now?" Roget: "Just watch them. No matter what." As the Count hits the stage, the crowd starts cheering with excitement…but then, a ghostly roar rips through the club and windows explode inward. Phoebe and Drake, along with the piano player and others, dive for cover. Phoebe: "Well, the fire's right on time." Drake: "Damn, why couldn't it happen after the show?!" She looks up as a demonic fire starts to creep in through the windows. Exits magically close and lock as patrons strain to get out. Drake: "Come on, we've gotta get back to the spot!" Getting to their feet, the two race across the club for the stairs leading up to the exit. They see Marie, in the middle of it all, "George! Where are you!?" Phoebe pauses, "Wait, we need to help her!" Drake: "No, we can't…if we get caught here, we'll burn just like everyone else!" He grabs her and pulls her up the stairs to the landing, passing a fleeing couple racing down.
INT. County General Mental Ward - Mike's Room - Day
Mike screams, writhing in pain as though he's being burned alive, as Morris bursts in. A nurse tries to hold Mike down as his body convulses. Morris: "What's wrong? What's happening? Get some help!" The nurse hurries out, leaving Morris to look on in dismay as a mysterious, supernatural glow emanates from Mike, then after it's gone, he suddenly calms, breathing easily again.
INT. Cabaret Fantome - Eternal Night
Phoebe and Drake reach the top of the stairs and their bodies start to glow supernaturally, but as they slowly fade out, they see a young man glowingly fading into place behind the bar, who calls out for, "Marie!" Marie rushes towards him and embraces him desperately as he tells her to, "Just hold on…just hold on…" Phoebe, still fading, shifts her look to the Count, who watches them fade out with keen interest through the fiery haze.
INT. Manor - Conservatory - Day
Piper and Paige anxiously watch over the bodies of Phoebe and Drake as Leo hustles in with the baby monitor. "There's nothing in the Book about how to call them back, and since I can't ask the Elders…" Suddenly, Phoebe and Drake's bodies glow, then spring to life, sucking wind with the shock of re-entering their own bodies. Paige: "Phoebe?" Piper: "Phoebe, are you alright?" Phoebe: "I don't know."

Phoebe holds court while Piper, Leo and Paige try to make sense of it all. Phoebe: "…and that's when the souls tried to escape, but couldn't…" Piper: "Couldn't?" Drake: "All the exits were magically sealed." Leo: "At least none of them know they're going to relive it." Phoebe: "Well, the Count sure does. And the way he just stood there, watching everyone burn…" Paige: "So, you think he's a demon?" Phoebe: "No, if he was, he wouldn't keep reliving it, too." Drake: "But he could have made a deal with a demon. I mean, if he's the one bad soul holding everyone else's back, he would've done anything to avoid moving on." Piper: "Doesn't sound like much of a deal, considering he's stuck, too." Drake: "Anything's better than Purgatory, trust me. Besides, he might have just been buying time, hoping to find another way out later." Phoebe: "So how do we help George and all the other good souls to move on?" Leo: "First, you have to find a way to separate theirs from the Count's." Phoebe: "Yeah, but how?" Piper: "By finding whoever he made the deal with, force him to unmake it." Paige: "You think that demon' still alive." Piper, regarding Drake: "HE is." Drake: "Well, not for long, but then I suppose that's not really your point." Piper: "Let's so check the Book." Leo and Piper head off for the attic. Phoebe, to Drake: "Maybe we'd better go have a chat with 'George' and see if he knows what the demon looks like." Paige: "Wait…Phoebe, you can't go anywhere. Hello? Magazine interview? You can't stand up Cosmo twice." Phoebe: "I think those souls are a little more important than Cosmo." Drake: Besides, there's more to life than work, Paige, there's adventure." Paige: "Really? I wouldn't know." Phoebe: "Hey…why don't YOU do it?" Paige: "Do what?" Phoebe: "Be me. You can glamour, you've done it before." Paige: "Yeah, but…" Phoebe: "It'd give you a taste of life outside of Magic School, wouldn't it? Plus, you know me as well as anybody, just fake it." Paige: "Why don't I just go talk to George?" Drake: "Because if we have to go back to the cabaret afterwards, the Count's going to be expecting Phoebe…feathers and all." Paige: "Feathers??" Phoebe: "Don't ask." Phoebe quickly leads Drake out the door.
INT. County General Mental Ward - Hallway - Night
A worried Morris walks with Phoebe and Drake down the hall. "the doctors are saying he's schizophrenic or something…first he's this George guy, then he's back to being Mike, now he's George again…" Phoebe: "That must be who we saw fading back into the club when we left." Drake: "Perhaps the fire starting pulled George's soul back into the time loop." Phoebe: "Which means he's figured out what's really going on." Drake: "But can only escape long enough to cry for help." Morris: "What are you two talking about?" Phoebe: "The fire, the one he keeps talking about? It's real, Darryl, very real." Drake: "It's how poor George died." Phoebe: "And possessing your friend is the only way he knows how to cry out for help." Morris; "But…why Mike?" Phoebe looks to Drake, wondering, as Drake thinks…realizes…"Proximity?"
INT. County General Mental Ward - Mike's Room - Night
They enter Mike's room. Mike, more panicked than ever, "The fire…it's coming back…you're gotta believe me!" Phoebe: "We do, George, we do." Mike: "George…then you DO believe me." Phoebe; "Yes." Drake: "And we saw Marie, too. Right before we left." Mike: "But, you can go in and out…without getting burned….how?" Drake: "You sort of have to, well, die to get in." Phoebe: "And we can go back if we have to, to free you and everyone else…but we need your help." Mike: "Anything…" Phoebe: "What can you tell us about the Count?" Mike: "He's the one, he did this! He cursed everyone to save himself!" Phoebe: "We know…Do you remember seeing him talk to anyone suspicious that night? Anyone…unusual?" Mike: "Yes…yes…every night before the show, he sits with a…frightening looking man at the center table, then the Count signs something." Phoebe, Drake and Morris look at each other. Drake: "Could be the deal." Phoebe; "Which means he might still be there…" Phoebe and Drake hurry out leaving Morris not fully understanding things, but still very concerned about his friend.
INT. Manor - Attic - Night
Piper hustles through the door to find Leo, and he's writing something in the Book! "The kids are down for the count…no pun intended…what're you doing?" Leo: "Me? Nothing…" Piper: "Yes, you are, you're writing in the Book…" Leo: "No, I was…looking for demons…" Piper steps over and starts flipping through the pages, then stops. "What's this? 'To my sons - Tips for Future Whitelighter'…?" Leo: "That's just something I've been working on for the boys, you know." Piper "No, I don't know. Why can't you tell them all this yourself when they're ready?" Leo: "because…I may not be around." Piper: "Oh come on…" Leo: "Piper, we have to face the facts… know you want to ignore what the Elders are doing, but I can't. Who knows what they're going to do to me, or when?" Piper: "They're not just going to yank you out of our lives, Leo." Leo: "How do you know?" Piper: "Because if they did, I'd quit - we'd all quit. I'm not losing you, Leo, not again, I told you that…is this why you didn't want to go around the world in eighty orbs?" Leo: "I wanted to finish it, just in case…" Piper: "Did you even look for demons?" Leo: "Yeah, I found this one, Sargon…traders of souls, preys on the afterlife." Piper: "Sounds like our guy, alright. Only problem is we already vanquished him…"

INT. Bay Mirror - Hallway - Night
Paige approaches the double doors and gives herself a pep talk. She looks up to see an ad for "Ask Phoebe" on the wall and talks to the poster, "You own me…" She takes a deep breath, closes her eyes and orb-glamours into Phoebe. She looks at the hallway window, seeing her reflection, pleased, "Hello sis." She turns back to the doors and, ever so Paige-like…trips on her heels, but continues on.
INT. Bay Mirror - Bullpen - Night
The Cosmo crew has already set up against Phoebe's closed office door with her name on the glass. An anxious Elise stalls with a reporter, who checks her watch as Paige/Phoebe pushes open the double doors in walks in. Elise notices, calls out to her. Paige/Phoebe, getting cold feet, "Sorry, maybe we should reschedule?" Elise, under her breath, "Not a chance." Then, she does a quick intro, 'This is…everybody." Reporter: "Hi, I'm Michelle." Paige/Phoebe: "Oh, hi, there, nice to see you again." Reporter: "Actually, we've never met." Paige/Phoebe: "Well, sure we did, when Elise came over to the…sorry…my mistake. Shall we?" Reporter: "If it's alright with you, I'll just ask you questions as they shoot." Paige/Phoebe: "Oh, sure, great…fire away…" She sits in a chair already in position and the photographer starts snapping away as the reporter starts firing questions at her. "Why don't we start with what inspired you to become an advice columnist?" Paige/Phoebe: "Hmm…good question…umm…well, I guess being an only child, I was always looking for…" "I'm sorry, only child?" "I meant Paige was an only child…at least she grew up that way, until she met her sisters, of course, met me…not that that has anything to do with why Phoebe became an advice columnist…" The reporter gives a startled look to Elise, who covers with, "She talks about herself in the third person…" Paige/Phoebe trying to backtrack, "I only meant that…Paige really had a lot to do with my decision, she just opened my eyes to a whole new world. Made me realize just how much I really had to offer…" And so, the interview continues with the photographer shooting away.
INT. Manor - Attic - Night
The real Phoebe and Drake, on a mission, burst into the attic to find Piper and Leo at the Book. "Good news. According to Mike…" Drake: "George…" Phoebe: "Whatever. We know there was a demon at the club who…" Piper: "Who we vanquished five years ago." Phoebe: "What? Are you sure?" Piper: "Afraid so…" Leo: "And according tot he Book, there aren't any other demons who could've made that kind of deal, either." Phoebe: "Then how are we going to unmake it?" Drake: "We have to go back!" Piper: "What? No way." Phoebe: "No, he's right, we do. It's the only way to find the demon." Piper: "But you said yourself you barely got out alive the last time. Besides, you don't even know what he looks like." Phoebe: "George told us where to find him." Drake: "Which means all I have to do is have a little demon-to-demon chat with him, talk him out of the deal." Phoebe: "Which should set all the souls free…let's do it." Drake: "Now you're talking…" Phoebe takes him to the couch, "But no messing around - we get in, find him, and get out." Drake: "Ah, but can't we at least stay for the show this time?…Bad idea.' Piper: "What're we supposed to do?" Phoebe: "What you always do…worry." Drake snaps his fingers and the spell appears in his hand again and he starts reciting it.
INT. Cabaret Fantome - Eternal Night
Phoebe and Drake open their eyes to find, once again, they're in the club, standing at the top of the stairs, her back in the gown, him back in the tux. But this time, it's a lot closer to show time. The piano player's playing, but the clock reads only two minutes until midnight. Phoebe spots it and realizes, "We're late." Drake: "No, we can still do it." He leads he down the stairs but as the crowd clears, they see there's no one at the center table. Count Roget calls to them, "Oh, your demon's long gone." They turn to find him beside them at the bottom of the steps, looking smug. "In fact, he left 106 years ago right after we made the deal…and long before the fire. You know…" he takes on George's/Mike's voice: "The fire…it's coming back, you've gotta believe me!" They look to see Toulouse sitting beside a captive, terrified-looking Marie and George. Phoebe, piecing it together, "That was YOU in Mike's body…you tricked us into coming back…" Phoebe tries to take a swing at Roget, but he stops her by pulling out a small pistol. The piano player finishes and again announces the Count. Phoebe: "You really think a gun's going to work on us?" Drake: "Uh…actually, I think it might." Roget: "Indeed. If you can burn, you can bleed." He re-aims at Drake, but just before he can pull the trigger, Phoebe hits his arm. Drake hits the floor, grabbing his shoulder, injured, but alive and Phoebe rushes to him. Elsewhere in the club, the piano player stops playing and everyone reacts to the gunshot with alarm. The Count stays cool, gun still aimed at Phoebe, as he backs up to the top of the stairs. "No matter, you'll both die soon enough. Of course, thanks to George finding his way out temporarily, I now have my way out…permanently. And not a moment too soon." Phoebe follows his gaze to the windows, which have already started to gleam with an eerie red demonic glow. Then, once again, the windows explode inward. The Count sees the demonic fire swirling in and, "I believe that's my cue." He runs for the stairs and glows, then, slowly fades out, taking with him any hope for Phoebe or Drake getting out.

INT. Manor - Attic - Night
Leo tries to calm Piper, "They haven't even been gone that long, relax." Piper, sarcastic: "I can't, I worry, remember?" Suddenly, Drake wakes up, sucking in air as he comes to and pops up, startling them. Piper: "Drake…what happened? Why isn't Phoebe waking up?" Drake/Count, dazed, still getting his bearings, stunned to finally be out of the club, doesn't answer. Piper: "Did you hear me? What the hell's wrong with Phoebe??" He snaps out of it finally, turns to see Phoebe, then looks back to Piper and Leo. Drake/Count: "I suppose she didn't make it."

ACT V
INT. Manor - Attic - Night
Piper: "What the hell do you mean she didn't make it? How is that possible?" Drake/Count: "I don't know…" Piper: "Drake, what are you doing? What's the matter with you?" Drake/Count, British slipping out, "Nothing, actually. I feel splendid. Er… mean, swell." Leo: "You have to go back and get her, before the fire starts."" Drake/Count: "It's already begun." Piper: "Well, then what are you waiting for, go, hurry!" Drake/Count: "No, I'm not goin back." Leo: "Why not?" Drake/Count: "Perhaps if I went outside…for a smoke, I might be able to consider it with a clearer head. Excuse me." He heads for the door as Piper figures it out. "Who are you?…Count Roget?" Drake/Count, nodding, "In the flesh…so to speak." Piper, pissed, throws her hands up to freeze him, but her magic visibly bounces off his chest with a small explosion that hardly phases him. Drake/Count: "Not bad. Looks like I chose the right body!" Leo raises his hands, ready to fire, but Piper stops him, "No…don't. You're already in enough trouble with…" Before she can finish, Drake/Count closes his eyes and shimmers out. Piper, deflates, finishing, "…the Elders."
INT. Cabaret Fantome - Eternal Night
Drake: "Phoebe, forget about me, I was going to die anyway." Phoebe: "Not like this, you weren't. No, come on, we have to think…if George found a way out, we can, too." Drake: "The fortune teller…" Understanding, Phoebe helps him to his feet and they cross over to the table the teller was using. Phoebe finds a crystal ball, tarot cards and a thick tome…open to a section titled "Portals and Immortals: A Mystical Journey", which she searches through. "Here…"Escape from the Ordinary"…five cards, face up." She searches the deck and places four specific cards where they're supposed to go, then…she pulls one from random, laying down the final card….Death. Drake: "Phoebe, only you can get out, into your own body." Phoebe: "I'll come back for you." Drake: "You better. Just remember, if the Count puts up too much of a fight, feel free to vanquish my sorry ass…as a last resort." Phoebe smiles, then re-focuses on the book and recites an incantation. With a poof of smoke, she's gone.
INT. Manor - Attic - Night
Piper, off a vial, "This'll dispossess him, if we can ever find him." Leo: "He's off the radar…and the Book's no help in locating him." Piper: "You were onto something a minute ago." Suddenly, they hear Phoebe re-entering her body. Piper: "Phoebe?! You're back!" Phoebe: "Where's the Count?" Piper: "Not so fast. What's my middle name?" Phoebe: "Uh…'Surly'?" Piper: "That's my girl." Phoebe: "Now, where's Drake's body?" Piper: "We don't know." Leo: "We can't scry for him, but we're thinking maybe he went to a pub? Or a restaurant? Phoebe, making the connection, "Or a tobacco shop. I think I know where he is."

Drake, across from the vacant lot, looks on, "Where's Philippe's? What kind of terrible world is this?" Phoebe: "One you'll be leaving soon." Phoebe, Piper and Leo emerge from a nearby alley and Piper freezes what few things are in motion at this time of night. Phoebe: "Go to hell." Before possessed Drake can react, she throws the dispossession potion at his feet. The Count's soul is ripped from Drake's body. Drake: "No, they'll take me away!" Drake's body falls to the ground as the Count's soul is left standing. Suddenly, shadows from everywhere come together and rush toward the spirit of the Count. Terrified, he's helpless as the shadows engulf him and drag his soul down through the ground and out of sight. Phoebe looks towards the vacant lot across the street and sees a hundred lost souls swooshing up out of a hole in the earth, free at least.
INT. County General Mental Ward - Mike's Room - Night
"Darryl?" Morris: "Mike…is that you?" Mike, scowling, "Well, of course it's me…what the hell's going on?" Morris: "You wouldn't believe me if I told you."
EXT. Street - Night
Drake slowly comes to, realizes his body's not wounded, then looks up at Phoebe as she leans over him, "Welcome back." Drake: "Thanks for bringing me back…it was getting a little…hot." Phoebe: "I'll bet."
INT. P3 - Private Table - Night
Leo gives a toast and sets down a phrase book, "The vacation was a great idea." Piper: "Just not great timing." Leo: "Ah, but like is short." Piper: "You're quoting Drake now?" Leo: "He's got a point…anyway, thanks for trying to distract me from the Elders." Piper: "I'm just sorry it didn't turn out the way I planned." Leo: "That's okay, it could be worse." Piper: "Yeah, we could've been stuck in a fiery club for a hundred years." Piper: "I think, from now on, I'm gonna try to stop controlling every little moment. The best ones sneak up on you anyway." Leo smiles and raises his class and they toast again. At the bar, Phoebe sips a drink, looking more relaxed that we've seen her in a long time. Paige, dressed to kill, enters, "I'm sorry, but have you seen Phoebe?" Phoebe: "Very funny." Paige: "What? I'm just not used to seeing you relax. And after having been you, I know why." Phoebe: "Yeah, well, I'm trying to slow it back down a little…enjoy the moment…by the way, thanks. You did a great job, nobody even knew." Paige: "Yeah, well, wait 'till the interview comes out…let's just say I praised your little sister…a lot." Phoebe: "Deservedly so." Paige: "Believe me, I think I got more out of it than you did. It was nice to be out in the real world again, I kinda miss it." Phoebe: "Then maybe you should do something about that." Paige: "Maybe…" Emcee's Voice; "Ladies and Gentlemen, P3 is proud to present a one night only show by…Drake De'Mon!" Leo: "What's going on?" Phoebe: "Oh my God…" Piper: "So, this is what happens when you've got a week to live?" On the stage, Drake taps his foot as a tuxedoed four piece band starts to play. Drake grabs the microphone and, swinging into action, begins to sing and put on a little show, ala 1899. Paige laughs as she leans into Phoebe, who's got a huge smile on her face, "What is he doing??" Phoebe: "Just be glad it's not a fan dance." As the others react, not understanding, Phoebe turns back to enjoy the show.
